Yep, they are about to build a YUGE new prison in St Gabriel. They need bodies to put in those cells one way or another or funding will dry up.

LA will be last to do this, much in the same way we will be among the last to rid ourselves of COVID bullshite.

Downvoters want to explain what they disagree with? This state is run by clowns.

I would argue two radically different groups of people are behind those two things.

And it seems unnecessary to complain about Covid restrictions in every post.

Some dickhead from a podunk place like Washington, LA with a buddy that works for the penal system will raise hell and scream “what about the children!?” Especially since there’s about 10 kids in a place like Washington, LA

But the steamboat though.

Louisiana Sheriffs Association will definitely do everything in their power to fight the legalization of cannabis. They don't want to cut off their gravy train that is asset forfeitures. They don't want to lose that all of that cash and properties that they seize.

They should have no say so in this whatsoever. They're job is to enforce the laws, not create them.

The most recent poll taken showed that 67% of Louisiana voters favor the legalization of cannabis.
Why are the citizens of Louisiana not allowed to exercise their right to vote on this???

I just hope weed doesn't become a part of everyone's daily life in seeing it, smelling it, etc.

When recreational weed becomes legal, the methods of consumption increase exponentially. It may become a part of more people’s daily life, but you’ll have no idea.

How is it weird to be concerned about the aesthetics of your town?

Have you been in most weed stores? They either look as benign as a vitamin or supplement store or they're basically built out like a spencers gifts.

They're nicer by miles than most liquor stores.

4 pages and not one mention of tax revenue.

Regardless of what people think about weed, the tax revenue generated would be a game changer for the state.

It's going to happen eventually, so let's do it now to start milking this cash cow.

You trust Louisiana politicians to use tax revenue they say they would?

You're thinking of the big vape rigs that trashy folks use that creates massive flavored clouds. They do this for attention. It's very trashy.

DTL (Direct to lung aka "big clouds") is about as close to replicating a cig for a vape user as you can get. Better than some a-hole smoking around me tbh.

And second hand vapor doesn't exist, so there's the benefit of that. And it smells nice.

MTL replicates the action of smoking, not as much vapor, but doesn't replicate the hit of a cig as much.

Cloud chasing died a long time ago, only reason people still run DTL rigs is to quit for good.

So sad to see people turning to drugs

So you're OK with people getting drunk on beer and smoking cigarettes?

Cigarettes and alcohol are far more dangerous than cannabis. They are responsible for far more deaths than cannabis. In fact, it is practically impossible to die from an overdose of cannabis.

quote:

It is estimated that marijuana's [median lethal dose] is around 1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. [National Institute on Drug Abuse]-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

vote again in bout 5-10 years, after it is de-criminalized at the Federal level.

Once the feds de-criminalize there’s not much the state can do, right?

Hopefully they’ll fill em up with people who litter once drugs are legalized. And people who don’t contain/restrain their dogs. And people who tailgate other drivers.

Tax revenue is the least compelling reason to legalize out of all of them. The absurdity of a plant being illegal kills me. Legalizing it so the same state that made it illegal in the first place get bigger and waste more money is stupid.

I thought it was pretty funny. I also thought it funny that so many were triggered by it.

Because money runs the state and the Sheriff’s Association has a lot of it.

Yet weed has been legal in Alaska. It was legal here long before it was anywhere else.
