He turned an extremely positive weekend into a downer. For a team that needs every win it can get, it couldn’t afford to lose a game up 8 runs going into the last 3 innings. The lack of quality pitching is squarely on his shoulders and his continued employment of an overrated pitching coach who has once again failed to develop more than maybe a couple of trustworthy pitchers.

His reign as LSU Head Baseball Coach is at an end.

Actually it ends in 2024 or earlier with a few million in his pocket

A series win over a ranked team is the nail in the coffin?

You can be pissed about decisions that led up to the collapse of this game, but going on the road and winning this series is a success....period.

There have been about 100 other "nail in the coffin" moments you can point to this season. This weekend series was a success though.

I’m afraid a one run loss when you win the series against the twelfth ranked team in the country doesn’t typically get coaches fired.

No body gave us a chance this weekend, yes the game is super frustrating but winning 2 of 3 at Ole Miss on the road is not a time to fire PM. Let’s see how this young team finishes

This will be the game that everyone points to when we don't make the SEC Tournament

We all knew Ole Miss could easily put 10 on our TBD today. They did. It was no surprise.

It’s a result of several years of poor recruiting, injuries and a lack of development of what we have. Anyone following the team knew we were in trouble before today.

Awesome pitching by three guys won the first two games. Those three are alll we have right now.

Yeah, this loss really hurts. We needed a sweep this weekend to help our chances of making the ncaa tournament. We had it and lost it. To lose a game like that, especially with how important it was for us, is just really inexcusable. That was bad.

It's a low ebb in LSU baseball, and it happened right when it seemed like the program was turning the corner. That 8th inning was the sum of all my fears regarding this team.

PM will not get fired....they will maybe ask him to retire, or let him retire on his own, IMO.

Jesus Christ.

Isn’t winning a series over a top 10 team a good thing? Why can’t you enjoy victories like this?

You should be fired from being a fan.

It won’t be. Pawl still has about 7 of his 9 lives left.

Won the series against a top 12 team on the road in which we haven’t done in 10 years (at Ole Miss)

There appears to be some hidden health issues that the fans are unaware of.

Coach seems to have game lapses late in games.

He rarely argues calls.

When he finally did, I was afraid for his health and safety.

LSU needs to give him a nice retirement package.

The team needs someone with consistent fire in the belly.

The game has passed him by.

Thank him for his service and end the vitriol now.

Mainieri wasn't throwing those pitches that Ole Miss hit.....taking 2 out of 3 from the Rebs isn't bad....certainly not enough to get the coach fired....
