First two episodes are available.
Pilot was ok...kinda blah. The second episode was a little better and enough for me to stick around to see where this goes.
At times, it felt like they were trying a little too hard to be HIMYM. But they are doing an ok job taking the spirit of the original and incorporating it to a new cast / story.

The original stretched on for 2-3 seasons too long
Yes, but even in the extra seasons the writing remained very good and the entertainment value was still better than almost any alternative. HIMYM was a brilliant show that thankfully got its shot in before comedy became neutered by leftism

First 2 episodes peaked my curiosity. The only thing bothering me is how they went out of their way to make it diverse. All different races and sexual orientations. It seems like it’s going to be a cheaply done knock off and not a quality show, but who knows.

Diversity in general would be fine and seem very much like New York. But the British guy and adopted lesbian sister characters seemed forced. Not sure if that's on the actors or the writing or both. Nothing they did seemed to flow well with the show.
Overall though it was pretty disappointing and just not funny enough. Maybe they'll figure it out as they go, but they just aren't getting the tone right, Bob Saget telling his kids was weird but based in telling a heart warming love story. Kim Catrall seems like she just wants to see her kid squirm.
They also have no Barney Stinson character. He was a disruptive character that constantly got the group to make bad decisions which usually leads to funny situations. The closest one to that is the Latina roommate. Maybe if she becomes that disruptor this show will have legs.

Yep. Not too surprised that happened.

I liked it and I have a feeling the link to the original is only going to get stronger. Diversity is what it is. I just expect it on everything nowadays and it’s fine.

Yeah you cant remake HIMYM. It was a show marketed to white people. The show creators didnt try to insult everyone by making it a "big tent" party. Any show attempting to do that now wouldnt even see the light of day.

Watched the first two episodes, not the greatest thing but I will watch a couple more episodes.
Episode 1 was meh. It was a lot of establishing the characters (even though I don’t know anyone’s name) and setting up the story. Not sure how I feel with the plot twist of revealing that one of the guys she met that night is the father.
Loves how they guys appartment is Marshall, lily and teds old apartment.
Episode 2 was much better in my opinion. They used the comedy cut scenes that HIMYM was known for. Characters in conversation, makes a joke, cut scene of the story they are telling, then back to present time.
The bar they are fixing up is obviously McClaren’s.
I think they show has potential if they use certain bits from the original but also sprinkle in some Easter eggs of the original. It’s only a matter of time before we get Goliath National Bank Easter egg

Kind of weird to call it a sequel series if there’s no real sign of it being connected to the original series
I was thinking the same thing. It's a new show using the same format.

The first thing I thought was whether or not it was someone we saw on screen.
So far I don’t like it. But I’ll give it a shot for a while. So many sitcoms aren’t good at all in the beginning but end up getting good after as the show goes on.
I remember watching the pilot of HIMYM and not being interested at all. Then one day my wife was watching season 4 and I thought this show is pretty good. I had forgotten I ever saw the pilot.

Really? Outside of the intentionally diverse cast, what makes you think that?

Well one of the very first scenes is some douchebag white guy who fits every single negative trope on a tinder date. Shes saved from the sea of douchey white guys by *sophisticated black guy* who rescues animals, is a gentleman and has "kind eyes" or something. Basically no black guy ive ever known.
There are two other white guys, both there just to fit tropes. One is the epitome of privilege while being an idiot and afraid of common people things. The other is a moping loser who gets rejected by his girlfriend and then rejected by Hilary Duff in favor of *sophisticated black guy*
HIMYM is a show anyone could have enjoyed. This show is targeted towards urbanite leftist women. Thats fine I guess, except that every other show out there is also targeted to urbanite leftist women

Did you watch it? There’s a very obvious connection. The dude lives in Ted and Marshall’s old apartment above McLaren’s. It still has their swords on the wall. He found the apartment listed on his college forum, Wesley, which is where Ted, Marshall, and Lilly went to college. The bar the other guy is fixing up is obviously McLaren’s.

Ted is so bad that you can hate watch him.
He was so bad that I gave up on the show 5 or 6 episodes into the first season. A character like that deserved to be miserable and shouldn't have any friends.

Curiosity got the best of me so I watched till episode 3. If you are a fan of HIMYM, it will not necessarily translate to this show.
A majority of the cast is insufferable. There is no Barney and Marshall characters to carry the water. I couldnt see myself being friends with any of these people in real life. I easily would have been friends with Barney, Marshall, and Robin. Could have tolerated Ted and Lily
Its also crude for the sake of being crude. Barney was sleeping with tons of women sure but the gang mostly found it to be gross and gave him crap for it. Tinder is literally a focal point of the show. The writers are blissfully unaware how they are framing their lead character. HD has been on 90 tinder dates in a year...and we are to believe its the men's problem shes still single. The sex toy bit was crude, awkward and stupid.
This show is pure filth and utter garbage

This. I'm going to give it a couple more episodes but there isn't any hilarious character that has great charisma on the show.
