Jay is a super nice guy. Very well spoken and a political hack who pretended to be a republican and helped persuade enough republican votes when he endorsed Edwards over the Republican candidates for Governor. The Governor returned the favor by appointing him to the highest paying job, or one of the highest paying jobs in the State. Then gave the position a pay raise when no other offices were receiving them. Dardenne is a very wealthy man paid by our state tax dollars. I’m not sure what the President of LSU makes but Dardenne has plenty of income now. Maybe the position will get a pay raise if he takes it so that he can retire on the increased retirement plan. His type like power and prestige so that’s a factor as well. But I have no clue what his credentials are to best him for the position.

LSU needs to open up a search nationwide and it needs to be a legit search with sincere intentions.
If they do a nationwide search, I’m fairly certain that it won’t be legit though.

Former Commissioner of administration for the gov would probably have a good idea where pots of money are down town and have the contacts within the legislature to help in budget crunches. Especially if the positions are split out again with a Pres and Chancellor.

Jay isn’t as interested anymore because because he wants the President position however they are combining the President and the Chancellor position.

Moret is smart, he genuinely loves LSU and was good at fundraising. He left LSU for a job in Virginia to be closer to his mother who lives there though, so I don't know what his situation is now.

Jay and Scott Angelle are dead to me, both, for very selfish reasons, are the main reason we have 2 terms of JBE. If Jay gets the job hopefully he uses some of his money to get a better rug.

Whether its Emmert or Moret or any other highly qualified person, the LSU job is going to be a hard sell. Since Jindal's first term the legislature has slashed funding for LSU and higher education to the point where the schools were and are damaged.
Turning politics around on funding higher education will be very difficult. Jay Dardenne has tried for almost six years as Comm. Of Administration with little to show for it.
As things now stand, the school is a mess and the job is a "no win" position.
