Everyone I know who has one also has an ICE vehicle. I’ve also never heard any complaints about road tripping in them other than a little extra time, which I might be willing to overlook for the autopilot on a long ride. But idk, we’ll see when Mrs. Billjamin gets one in a year or two. But it won’t be our road trip car or even our fast car, it’ll be her around town vehicle.

Not snake oil but OP should get himself educated on it because there is a lot of stupid claims and there are good installers and really shitty ones.

That is such an outlier argument. If someone drove 300 miles one day a week for a year that is 15,600 miles which are already over the average mileage for a US vehicle.
Now if you are the person that drives 1,000 miles in a day several times a month and drives straight through only stopping for gas, only consuming food and drink you bring with you, and peeing in bottles you probably will see the range and an inconvenient factor. For the vast majority of people the vast majority of the time they will only charge at home and actually save time vs stopping to fill up at the gas station.

I average 50/weekday and would not need to consider range for about 360 days of the year. My road trips can take a 30min break after 5hrs of driving

My question is why you bought it.

Is the model 3 the one that looks like a BMW 3 series or VW Jetta?

you're going to that guy that tells everybody about his car.
no I am conscientiously making sure I am not that guy. I am not gonna post about it on social media or anything. But I am very excited about it, which is why I am talking about it on an anonymous online forum so I don't have to alienate my friends and family by talking their ear off about it

That's an insult to BMW and VW because the Tesla is FUGLY

I like the idea of charging at home every night and saving money on electric vs gas consumption. I like that most of the upgrades to Teslas over time will come through as software updates and be made available to me. And I have faith in Elon and crew to figure out full self drive eventually (years from now, but still).
But mostly, I just think it's a cool car. Love the clean and minimalist interior. It's fast and drives well. You may disagree and that's fine.
I needed a new car, so I went with one I liked.

I got quoted $900 to have someone reputable put on a ceramic coat that is supposed to last 5 years.
Good or bad deal? I know in general any money like this being spent on a depreciating asset is an expense but it's something I want to do especially because my car is parked outside (no garage)

Congrats on your Camry with iPad
Exactly...except:
The slowest Model 3 is still pretty freaking fast. With the Long Range AWD Package (without Performance Package) you are looking at 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. That's half a second slower than the Mustang Shelby GT 350. The Camry XLE V-6 0-60 is right at 6 seconds.

Like either company has had a decent looking car since the early 2000s m3s or the golf gtis from the 90s. Please.
