Not just buying ammo and having bug out bag stuff at the ready if needed, but long term food storage mostly.

I have a month or so of dry goods, and I purposefully purchased my property because of its proximity to woods and a river.

I have constructed improved defensive battle positions. I retired a year ago and last summer I had a lot of time on my hands because of this virus shite.

So I kind of went crazy playing around with my tractor and a backhoe. All offer cover and concealment along with secondary and alternate firing locations.

I think I have a couple pounds of ground chuck in the freezer. Does that count?

Well, God told Noah to build an ark on dry land, and over the course of many many years, Noah was the butt of all jokes, that was until the flood waters came, and then no so much.

Christ said that as in the days of Noah, so shall it also be with the second coming of Christ. We are constantly reminded to be prepared in scripture, and so I see prepping as just really good sense, and hey, if Christ does tarry beyond my years, I will have food for other emergencies as well, and if things really do get bad economically or because of some other natural or man made disaster, war, etc, Ive done about all I can do to be responsible to prepare for the unforeseen events.

None here. Our government has convinced me that as long as enough people screw up, they’ll take care of it.

Also, if I reach the point where I need more than a pistol to stay alive then I’d rather just die.

I always carry... That's the first step. If you have a gun, you can acquire everything else. To answer the question though, in five minutes, I could grab enough stuff to constitute a bug out bag.

Do you have a spare tire on your vehicle? Wear a seat belt? Own a fire extinguisher?

If so, I guess you're a paranoid lunatic.

I've got multiple cans of dried eggs, peppers, hash browns, etc. But that's mostly for camping.

I've got everything I need to head out in to the woods and live for a bit, folding saw, hatchet and axe, bushcraft style knife, several ferro roads, water purification systems, stick stove, etc. etc. But again, that's for camping and bushcraft hobby stuff.

I had multiple firearms but of course tragically lost them in a boating accident.

So I don't know, maybe I do? But not for "prepping" as most people think of it. I just like to be self reliant and enjoy spending multiple nights in the woods.

I wonder if humans have ever gone through a food shortages, or an economic crisis throughout history and had been really glad to have had Mylar bags with food storage during those very difficult times. I mean, most everyone’s grandparents or great grandparents are very familiar with the art of canning. I wonder why.

I have a case of MRE's I bought for camping (menu 13-24).
And some packs of freeze dried eggs.
Not really for prepping.

Oh, forgot that I have a ton of canned stuff. But again, that's because I have a pretty good sized garden, it's just me and the wife, and I don't like things I grow going to waste.

By the time I retire I'll probably be what people call a full-bore "prepper", but simply because I'd rather rely on myself and my land to provide what I need instead of megacorps who seem to base more and more of their decisions on politics instead of the free market.

ETA: I can honestly see a time in the not so distant future where you receive an email from Amazon that says "we're sorry, we are no longer able to provide our services to you. We have discovered you voted for candidate X, and as he/she does not support our corporate (political) values, we can no longer allow you to remain a customer."

I'm not a long term prepper, but have have enough food and supplies to be reasonably comfortable for a month, maybe 6 weeks if I'm frugal with it. It just kind of baffles me that after what we've seen between the COVID supply chain interruption and the recent TX freeze fiasco, people still think that putting a little extra away is some sort lunatic endeavor. I didn't build my own bunker, I didn't dig my own water well, I didn't armor plate my truck. I've got some food, water, some pretty basic med supplies, and some candles on the side.

Has god told you to build a big wooden boat?

See, that’s just good sense, and basically what I was driving at. I am pretty much the same, although I’d like to be a little better prepared, it’s still at least something. The problem with the reliant ones is that if things really did go bad there are a ton of people, the majority of Americans, who would bombard the grocery stores and deplete stock within hours, and once they consumed all of that, they’d be in deep doo doo. I think we all saw that during the first week of shut downs at the grocery store. That was just government shutting it down. Imagine if something beyond our control happened and things were real bad.

Prepping is just being smart and responsible IMHO.
