Why are black people so emotionally invested in these police shootings?

I think it is safe to to say that the majority of white people really don't give a shite when some random white person is killed by the police especially if that person has a violent criminal past. Why do black people act like it was one of their family members who died. I constantly here people talking about holding back tears, expressing their unbridled anger and disgust etc.... It does not make sense to be so emotionally invested in some random person on the other side of the country.

It really doesn't make any sense.

It’s almost like there is an entire industry heavily invested in sowing strife and conflict at any opportunity.

Almost.

It is just a distraction from the utter and abysmal failure of Democratic leadership for forty years.

Congrats for giving them your vote and not making them earn it.

This is fascinating to me. It sort of reminds me of how black people were rooting for OJ to get off even though he obviously killed his wife. They wanted to see the murderer stay out of prison. I've never understood that.

It's like the lottery - if your son gets killed by the police, you have a 1 in 2.9 million chance the city of Minneapolis will pay you $27 million.

Worst case? As many pair of Nike's as you can carry before more PD show up.

Why do Arab dictators blame all their problems on Israel? To hide their own shortcomings and corruption.

I know some black folks who react to these shootings the way you describe, but I know others who don't. Black people who take these shootings to heart are more likely to be interviewed on news channels than those who don't. I know black men in real life who'd put this whole narrative to bed with the quickness if CNN would dare put a microphone in front of them.

White puppet masters are creating the drama.

And they are progressive, something most black people aren't.

Because they're convinced by the race pimps, liberal politicians, and the hugely complicit media that they are being systemically hunted and killed.

While I don't believe that's the case at all, if I believed that me and my family were being annihilated, I'd be invested as f***

Exactly. My son and I had this same conversation. I know he wasn't shot, but we were talking about G. Floyd. If he would have been white no one would care not even white people.

An inconvenient truth is that a percentage of these people that claim to be offended have absolutely no issues with young black folk being murdered in the hood over drugs, reputation and the colors they wear as long as it's other young black folk doing it.

The lifestyle is not only allowed... it's encouraged, condoned and embraced. "Thug life". Music, movies, television, self proclaimed "black leaders". All complicit. Ask Sharpton when was the last time he was publicly outraged when a POC raped and murdered a white girl?

It's sad.

It's a combination of perpetuating/reaffirming their victim status, in their own minds, and opportunism.
