Just saw an ad for Weight Watchers before a youtube video. When did they start referring to themselves as "WW"?

"WW" has six syllables.
"Weight Watchers" has 3 syllables.

Why shorten the name when it takes double the syllables to say it? Is "weight" a bad word now? Is that the reason?

This simply bothers me...

Because it bothers overweight people. Or it could.

Seriously.

That's still 4 syllables.

They are trying to focus more on healthy living, and less on just weight.

This sounds like a word salad to be able to say fat people are still healthy.

Yep which is sad because actual healthy living automatically translates to healthy weight for most people but the term "healthy living" is being coopted by the "health at any size" people.

Probably wanted to rebrand because the old "Weight Watchers" name evokes old, plumpy white ladies from the '70s.

Put them on the AYDS Reducing plan....

If people want to lose weight, all they have to do is avoid sugar, boxed, canned or prepackaged food, and limit consumption of things with white flour. You can pretty much gorge on clean meat and fresh vegetables as much as you want and the weight will simply fall off after a while if you avoid the useless and chemical laden things listed above.

Oh, and corn is no longer a vegetable. The corn crop has been so GMOed that it is mostly just sugar now. (Thanks to that goes out to the ethanol and corn syrup push)

I realize that waist sizes on men’s Levis are under labeled by about 3 inches. With that said, could you imagine the reaction if women’s jeans had the size stenciled on the back?

Some companies are realizing there is more money to be made in fat acceptance, than in fat correction.
