I had read several Jack Ryan books before Red October came out, and Baldwin was by far closest to what was in my imagination and in print. And everyone is correct, Red October by far the best movie.

Of you read the books , Baldwin’s interpretation is closer closer to the Clancy character. Of you haven’t read the books , Ford will be you choice.

Red October is so good I don’t recall it as a Jack Ryan movie, so Ford wins.

Really wished Baldwin would have continued as Jack Ryan. Every Clancey book I’ve read with Ryan in it, I’ve always pictured it as Baldwin

Harrison Ford easily....I do however, as a whole, think Sum of all fears doesn't get enough love. It's really good with a great cast.
