What’s the going price for carpet replacement in a bass boat? I got a quote for $1200.00. 17ft Ranger.

carpet on a boat deck is almost as bad as carpet on a bathroom floor

That sounds cheap to me. It's a boat, everything is expensive.

I hate hate hate carpet in any fishing or ski boat.
Fishing boat you get hooks caught all in it.
Ski boat it stays dirty.

My shite is spotless, '98 Mastercraft. No shoes allowed in my boat and I vacuum it maybe once a month when I'm boating. Most ski boats I've ever seen or been on are the exact same. Old school slalom heads don't play games on boat cleanliness.
All in all $1,200 sounds cheap to me but I've never shopped around. I'd imagine you could buy the cheapest stuff at Lowes and DIY for less than 1/2 that but after all, time is money. What's the headache worth to you?

I agree with this, im looking at some aluminum boats with no rivets shoot been looking for a few years now, but I want a boat I can take in the flats/rivers for bass/and bays on a decent day... Originally I was looking at the express and boats like that but have moved away from that and am now looking only at key words "deep vee aluminum boats" on a few website but they all I mean ever single bass boat has carpet and I understand if I buy one if these boats im going to have my work cut out for me.
So my question has anyone ever peeled off the carpet sanded it down a bit and just out anti slip/skid deck paint right over top? Or will I need to add boat weight by reglassing everything and a lot more prep work.

way better to have it replaced with foam mat then recarpet it

Don't need shoes in a ski boat...you get in, ski, and come back to the dock. Shoes stay on the boat slip. Hence the carpet being spotless
I didn't make the rule but I follow it religiously. Go to Bennetts ski school and try to step in one of their boats with shoes on. Mimi and Pawpaw are the only exceptions, they can do whatever they want

I’ve considered durabak, tuffcoat, etc. Anyone had any experience with these paint/roll on floorings?

Good luck, I just got my Triton recarpeted by simpsons outboard Carpet in west Monroe.
I called around several places and quotes were all over the map. The best was Duncan marine in Brandon, ms. The guy literally told me it would be 6 months before he’d take the boat, he’d keep it for 2 weeks, he’d charge me almost $4k, and I wouldn’t be happy with the work lol.
Simpson’s did a decent enough job but he kept the boat for over 2 months. Charged around $1500 but did a coating application too.

Hold that thought for about a week or so. I'm in the process of doing this right now. Ripped the carpet out already, and just working in getting it nice and clean before I put the paint on.
Boat is a 15' alweld that had a console on it with a 25 hp and jackplate, but switched to a 10hp tiller handle (for the time being at least) w/o jackplate, and pulled the console out.

What paint did you go with?

I bought something called TotalBoat. After doing quite a bit of research, I settled on it. The price is quite a bit less than TufCoat and Durabak, and it doesn't require a primer or any major prep work.
Worst case, if it doesn't work well, it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Might take more time if I have to redo it, but I'm OK with that potential trade off if the more cost effective option works out.
I don't need anything pretty or fancy, I just want something that works.

I was quoted a couple years ago $600 for recarpet Skeeter 18ft. I didn't want to take everything out of it and then leave it there for a couple weeks. Now I wish I had done it but there was no security at the dudes house who's wife was going do it.

shite it don’t matter shoes or no shoes around here. You either have gumbo mud or sand bars. I like to just be able to pressure spray it out
