Ranker.com - List of All LSU QBs
This site lists 32 Tiger QBs:
1. Joe Burrow
2. Bert Jones
Hard to argue with those two.
3. Matt Flynn
4. Matt Mauck
5. Tommy Hodson
I might change the order somewhat - I would put Hodson #3
6. Zach Mettenberger
7. Rohan Davy
Don't think I'd rank Zach that high and I might put Davy over Mauck.
8. JaMarcus Russell
9. Steve Ensminger
#9 might be too high for Ensminger
10. Herb Tyler
11. Danny Etling
Tyler possibly underrated and Etling overrated
12. Jeff Wickersham
13. Alan Risher
I would reverse the order of these two.
14. David Woodley
15. Jarrett Lee
16. Pat Lyons
17. Myles Brennan
Brennan certainly has some potential, but way too early to rank him this high.
18. Marcus Randall
19. Paul Lyons
20. Mickey Guidry
21. Nelson Stokley
22. Pat Screen
23. Josh Booty
24. Mike Hillman
25. Lynn Amedee
26. Jamie Howard
27. Buddy Lee
Lee is a very underrated QB - he led the Tigers to SEC championship in 1970.
28. Chad Loup
29. Jesse Daigle
30. Jordan Jefferson
31. Brandon Harris
32. Anthony Jennings

I would agree that Hodson is #3

This clearly isn’t les miles list.. that 30 would be changed to #1

This is sure to rustle some feathers.

Ensminger was clearly number 2 when he and Woodley played. They tried to put Esminger at #1 because he threw the ball better but Woodley overall was a better QB.

Russel at 8 is lolz

Pretty glaring oversight of Y.A. Tittle, Probably in that 3-6 window. He was number 6 overall pick in the '48 draft, 2x first team all-SEC and held most of LSU passing records until Bert Jones in the 70's. Also has a bad arse picture from his NY Giant days.

I’d put Hodson at 2.

JaMarcus Russell should be much higher. People are wrongly influenced by his NFL flame-out, but he was fantastic when he was at LSU. Also Brennan at 17 is way too high. His only significant playing time was the 3 games he started in 2020. Not nearly enough of a sample size to even rank him.

That list is broken.
What he did in the NFL doesn't matter.

Russel should be higher. People forget/let his pro career shroud just how damn good he was in 2005 and 2006

Mett doesn’t deserve to be higher than Rohan or Jamarcus, he didn’t touch those 2 guys

Hodson #3. All SEC QB four years straight.

What a painful stretch of LSU football....

Hodson needs to be #3, 4x All-SEC, when he left he was the career SEC record holder in yards and TDs.
I don't see any possible way someone could argue Mauck and Flynn deserve to be above him.

Why is Y.A. Tittle not on this list?

I was a student for only two years and was treated to the two worst QBs on the list.

quote:Agree on Brennan. Russell imo has been overrated by the fan base because he was the number one pick as much as people think he is a bust because of the flame out. He was drafted mostly on potential, not on what he did at LSU.

Missing Fred Haynes
. . . with the statement that he wasn’t the kind of guy who tritylates the scouts because he is too short, too light. But ask about Fred over in the Southwest Conference and you will get a different story, because the “Little General Fred Haynes” was the top gun as the LSU Bayou Bengals led off their 1968 season with consecutive victories over Texas A&M, Rice and Baylor. . .
