Pellet smoker won’t connect to Bluetooth

Just bought a camp chef smokepro DLX. Opened the app, plugged in the smoker and clicked the search for device button. The smoker never shows up to connect.
Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

My Weber kettle never had this issue.

In the category of things I did not know exist before today: Bluetooth capable smokers.

The smoker works fine but I’m lacking the feature for watching the temps on my phone. Basically it’s a convenient feature that I could live without but since it’s an option, I might as well get it working.

Did you turn the smoker on?
There is a switch to turn it on before it will be discovered according to the manual.

That thing is gonna show all of your food on Instagram, and a herd of new immigrants will come and eat all of your food.

Uh... well. Yea so... my smoker uses wood and fire. The closest role my phone gets to play is the flashlight when briskets run long and it gets dark out.

Yeah the smoker was turned on. It’s just not picking from the app. It’s possible that the Bluetooth antenna is damaged or I’m missing a step but it seems pretty straight forward and simple.

I thought blue tooth was an add on part upgrade on the Camp Chefs. I have an XXL and it is an add on for that but I am just going to get a fireboard. Good news is the Camp Chefs keep very steady temps and you really don't need to monitor much, it cooks consistently. If I REALLY wanted to I could run the probes from my Weber to the camp chef and monitor temps until I get a fireboard.

Exactly what I was thinking, that takes all of the fun out of smoking, grilling. You might as well order a pizza and track it on the app.

I thought it was only available for other models but the instruction manual has a section at the beginning saying to connect to the app. My smoker did come with the Gen 2 controller so maybe that was a feature that was included.

This is the most first world problem I have ever seen

Agreed. Its a total convenience feature only but since it’s an option I’m going to try and use it.

Lol! Yep.
"Frick, I have to go out and check the smoker because my phone won't link up with it."
Half the fun of smoking and grilling is sitting out by the smoker and drinking beer while making sure the temp is right.
This is the one time I might actually hate capitalism--really I just hate the douche that created bluetooth-enabled smokers.

Ha, mine has wifi. I fired it up while I was at the store buying meat yesterday.

Definitely a first world problem.
Man, I still use charcoal or firewood so I can’t help you.
