Just had our first baby and need a new SUV for the wife (no pics). She does not want a van/large SUV until kiddo #2, but we need space for our 2 dogs (110lbs total). Will probably need a luggage rack/hitch for road trips.
Just re-read OP. One kid and you need not only a bigger SUV than an X3, but also a luggage rack? How much shite do you take on road trips? Keep the X3 if she likes it.

It’s so great when these threads pop up and the “financial gurus” give advice on saving money instead.
It actually didn’t really happen in this thread (surprisingly), unlike most.

X5 (currently has an X3 she likes but too small)
Mercedes GLS (tree fiddy or 450)
Lexus GX 460
Jeep GC (top trim level)
Telluride (might be too big, also it's a Kia)
What a list.
Just get a top level Honda Pilot and be done.

If you're going to get a van in a few years....just get a van now. As soon as you knock her up again you're going to want it.
2021 Sedona
2021 Kia Sedona
MSRP: $30,400 - $41,500
I always said someone should invent a button to press and plexi glass goes down with a monitor
get a used one even.

Wut?
It’s a Honda, it’ll run forever if you just change the oil and rotate the tires... and you can get a fully loaded AWD version for $44k?

The quality for 44k is horrendous. Plastic everything and shite leather that cracks after 40k miles. Headliner issues, notorious paint issues with Honda.
Japanese reliability still riding the reputation of the 80s-90s

You think a Honda Pilot is a quality vehicle at 44k and I don’t know anything about cars?

My mother and M-I-L both have pilots and haven’t had any issues.

I’ve had significantly less issues with the 2 Japanese cars I’ve owned than the 2 American ones. Now I do think American cars have gotten better on reliability, but Japan still leads the way. Honestly it seems like Germans are making the most over priced junk now a days.

Volvo's are number one in safety.

People who buy brand new cars are suckers. Depreciates 10-20% as soon as you drive it off the lot.
A car is point A to point B safely. Comfortably if you can afford it. Buy a gently used vehicle that meets this description and is you might reach Money Board baller status one day.

this XC90 is the first midsize SUV I have ever driven a long distance in and enjoyed it
we traded in my FORD Expedition for it and we havent looked back
you are dead on about the van though, wish we had bought one when we had two kids 18 months apart

Telluride. Usable/accessable third row + 5 year bumper to bumper.

My wife has a Highlander limited. Nice vehicle but not big enough for 2 kids on a vacation. Get the biggest mid sized you can if you don’t want to go full-size or minivan
