I know someone who manages a Walmart Super Center. He’s been getting lots of complaints about very few registers being open for checkout and no one there to fill online pickup orders. He said that he simply cannot get the needed number of people to work. Many of the people he hires will consistently not show up for work, not call in, some for long periods of time. When they do decide to show up, he has no choice but to continue to employ them, just because he needs warm bodies to work.
