Honestly, she’s right that it’s all social preference.
She is free to let the forest grow, and men (or other women or she-men or non-binary pansexuals) are free to decide if he/she/ze/they like it or not.
I doubt she will see it that way, though.
More likely she will see it as she is free to let her hair grow, and anyone who doesn’t like it is a bigot of some sort.
