Yeah he was really good as Koresh. Like scarily looked and sounded exactly like DK.
He’s been good in several things. He was great in Lone Survivor too.

Yeah he was good in Lone Survivor. True Detective S2 is probably another blemish on his resume.

Kit Harington seems destined for the same career trajectory.

Saw it for the first time about a month ago. I was fully prepared to hate it but it was surprisingly fun and was smart enough to not take itself too seriously. I'm not exactly sure why the Transformers made so much money while Battleship tanked b/c there are a lot of similarities between the two action/comedy wise and I thought the characters were overall much better in Battleship. Even though I laughed out loud at all the old Navy dudes rolling up to man the Missouri they still stirred some "Merica frick yeah feels" which I never would have expected. Maybe it was b/c my expectations were so incredibly low but it was much better than I expected.

had never heard of it but I was expecting it to be pretty good. I'll probably still give it a shot, with lowered expectations. ?
It certainly isn't Oliver Stone's best and some of it is a bit rediculous I still thought it was entertaining enough and imo it was Kitch's best performance.

We watched John Carter again last night. It just gets better with each viewing.

It's a pretty generic alien movie that's very loosely connected to "Battleship" which makes it feel hokier. Transformers also came 5 years earlier so it felt like less of a moneygrab. Battleship came after Transformers, awful Transformers 2 and underwhelming GI Joe. People were already disillusioned from the child toy to movie properties.

Nope. Solid, mindless fun. And it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
When those battered vets fire up that ship with AC/DC raging in the background, I get a little America boner.

Being a good actor also includes being able to choose the right roles
Does it? Seems that's more of an agent sort of thing. But I'll never know.
John Carter and Battleship weren't 'terrible'. I'd rather see those than 'Battlefield Earth' and John Travolta is considered a much bigger actor.
What am I missing here? What's the point of this thread?

He was absolutely terrific in Waco - needs more roles like that.

I agree that he did a good job with Waco, but overall the show was a bit of a burden to finish. I could be an outlier here, though. I feel like Kitsch has enough chops to go with his looks that he could find quality work. I'm inclined to say crappy agent.
But I don't know shite about frick, to quote Ozark.

I just finished Savages on Netflix, and I didn’t find it to be a piece of crap movie at all. I actually rather enjoyed it.

This right here is why I love battleship. Movie absolutely peaks right when they start getting to old girl war ready.
