[Paul was a great coach, and certainly elevated us past the smoke days, but the game has clearly passed him by. I really hope he retires with some grace after this season.]

What is he doing that no longer works? What is progressive about other programs/coaching styles?

Let’s see how the SEC season plays out; I trust Smith to make adjustments at the plate.

Unfortunately State is really fricking good, which really surprises me after the Cannizzaro debacle.

He needs to go. Other programs have passed him by. Only boomers want to keep him.

You’ll hear an unlimited amount of excuses for PM. Dude should have been fired years ago.

The amount of hit and runs he calls is a bit of an old school approach. Analytics hate hit and runs and bunts.

Besides that there isn’t really anything he does that would say “the game has passed him by” from a game strategy standpoint. It’s just what people like to regurgitate to justify comparing him to Les Miles where the game actually did pass him by from a strategic standpoint.

After Cannizaro left, PM told us he had coaches lining up that were interested in the job, even some former head coaches. Then he hired Sean Ochinko, who had zero coaching experience.

For one, recruiting has passed him by. We supposedly have the #2 recruiting class from last year. But how many kids like State’s Friday night starter or that kid Sims have we ever had under Paul, a true shut-em-down, dominant thrower? Another example, there’s a nameless OF who’s battled injury this year who wouldn’t start at any other SEC school yet he already squeezed out a guy as highly-touted as Crews and is now taking at bats away Drost/Sanford inexplicably.

The roster mgmt with the catchers the last two days has been a real head scratcher.

Consistent poor plate approaches across all hitting coaches except Cannizzaro.

The game hasn’t passed him by. He’s getting outrecruited. Every year there are a couple of SEC teams that have more talent than LSU. My guess is that, with only three paid coaches, and one of them - Mainieri - being in his “quality of life” phase, we are spending less time evaluating talent.

Over and over we see the mistake of giving coaches long term contracts. The only time this should be done is if you have a Saban. When Les was being recruited by Arkansas, and CPM by Texas, give them a raise and a four year contract. If they quit just go get another guy.

There are like 5 people on this board that might be able to answer this question. The rest just want him fired because he isn’t replicating what Skip did. Of course, these people can’t name his potential replacement and explain why that coach would be better.

Complacency

The sec is literally the best it's ever been collectively as a conference.

LSU shouldn't have the issues they are having in the bullpen that's actually a spot where we have veterans and they have performed like shite.

The rest of the sec has young guys as well on their teams but they are getting it done.

Paul has no emotion nor energy he's just a douche bag that throws people under the bus.

Are you serious?

Coleman
Ranaudo
Nola
Gauseman
Lange
Henry

That’s off the top of my head. Then you have on the current team Hill who can be dominant at times, but is a little inconsistent and Marceaux who looks to be a first round talent at this point on the current team.

LSU is not hiring Cannizzaro right now. I would be all for it, but they won’t do it after the Les miles shite.

Bro, fricking forget about Cannizzaro. It ain't happening and it shouldn't.

Mainieri seems to have taken a big step back this year. Still experimenting with the infield coming into conference play

The whole Bianco fiasco

He's lost me this year.
