They were looked at in preseason at 3rd. Results weren’t very good

You definitely highjacked your own thread with that minor typo.

Remember when our starting middle infield was two future MLB players. One was a freshman came in defensively and took over for the future NL batting title who will probably be a HOFer.

I don't get the Arnold hate either. Kid must really suck in practice.

Are you guys serious? Arnold can't throw to first.

His timing was off because he wasn't used to having to wait for Morgan to get to the bag and yes it has improved so I don't get this at all.

This past weekend he lobbed one over Morgan's head, and Morgan had to make a nice play to salvage it. I would feel a lot more comfortable with my wife making the throws to first.

Arnold is fine. You’re being a little bitch about it. He needs to focus less on his arm and the throw and more on his footwork. Early on it was timing and that’s partly due to his feet. He’s used to getting his feet moving faster and releasing as soon as he fields it as SS. It’s a lot different at 2B where there’s a delay.

Who hasn't Morgan bailed out? We seriously counting those?

ell, we're talking 30 foot tosses from second to first. I understand sometimes you can have a glitch, but it's happening way too often to Arnold.

I think Mainieri should bench him for two games to try to stimulate some fight in him. Maybe when he sees the field again he'll throw the ball to the first baseman.

I don't think Arnold's problem will be solved. He just has shitty accuracy. We saw it on the relay home from right field (when Hellmers had to back up the catcher and threw it into left); we saw it with shaky throws at SS; and now we're seeing it on poor throws from second. He has consistently sprayed the ball around.

So you think PM should bench him for 2 games but that won’t fix it so let him play again anyway? But he’ll never improve. Ever. He just sucks.

Great takes as always, Penrod. PM really does a number on you fricks who try to defend his every move. You never would have said any of this shite if PM hadn’t suggested he was looking hard a 2B still.

You from preseason:
quote:

This lineup will be overmatched at the plate most of the season. We have a young lineup in a year when teams are unusually veteran, like our pitching staff is. I don’t expect the hitting to come around until the end of the season if at all.

No!
You are 100% correct. Morgan makes crazy movements - both on first and at the plate. He is funny to watch.

Makes me wonder what he's doing to Arnold's confidence with these quotes...

If Arnold is a pussy these quotes could destroy him; if he's a fighter they will make him fight.

Funny how confidence is important for some players and not others. PM practically babied Hellmers in the media after that first weekend.

It's almost like Mainieri eschews the one-size-fits-all method, and instead customizes his approach for the psychology of each player. What an idiot!

Some kids are fighters whether you call them out or not. You don’t need to call them out publicly to figure that out either. If that’s a resource you use, you’re just a shite coach. People love to bring up how tough skip was. But skip was tough to your face. PMs passive aggressive bullshite isn’t going to help anyone.
