I'm simply looking at things from an efficiency standpoint. It's not so far from the rank in terms of total games played, but there are other factors like playing a ton of home games that take away innings for the hitters as well. It's just a way get a raw comparison to other teams when the total is impacted by games played and other things.

hitting well alone doesn’t account for the AB difference.
example:
LSU has batted in 24.2 more innings than So Illinois.
that’s an additional 72 at bats available without getting any hits.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I would guess that even though we've struck out 8 more times than last year we're striking out at a lower rate than last year. With hits and walks both being up, our overall plate appearances are probably much higher through the same number of games. So only 8 more strikeouts seems like an improvement to me.

Wouldn't have minded seeing all that in its own thread. Pretty interesting comparison. Getting no-hit by OU last year was rock bottom.
