Should we penalize LSU for hitting well leading to more ABs?
It's not a penalty I'm trying to enforce. I'm simply looking at things from an efficiency standpoint. It's not so far from the rank in terms of total games played, but there are other factors like playing a ton of home games that take away innings for the hitters as well. It's just a way get a raw comparison to other teams when the total is impacted by games played and other things.

hitting well alone doesn’t account for the AB difference.

example:
LSU has batted in 24.2 more innings than So Illinois.
that’s an additional 72 at bats available without getting any hits.

corrected chart.
i STILL forgot to update So. Illinois HR total, even after you called me out on it

so we are 8th, not 7th.

With our bullpen it means we’ve been getting hits.

We aren’t going to extras 0-0-

Coastal Carolina always seems to hit a lot of homeruns

This late? We are only about 1/4 of the way through. And who is complaining in regards to HRs?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I would guess that even though we've struck out 8 more times than last year we're striking out at a lower rate than last year. With hits and walks both being up, our overall plate appearances are probably much higher through the same number of games. So only 8 more strikeouts seems like an improvement to me.

Wouldn't have minded seeing all that in its own thread. Pretty interesting comparison. Getting no-hit by OU last year was rock bottom.

Lester has been bitching about the K/BB ratio as if that matters anymore. Analytics says it doesn't really matter how you get out.

I'm not sure it matters. The article is dated February, 2010.
