Why do people give a sh** about the “royal family”?

First of all, the whole idea of a “royal family”, which is associated with monarchies, is completely contrary to the ideals of the Revolutionary War/French Revolution, the writings of people like John Locke, etc. It is a vestigial structure, aka no longer useful or needed. The fact that people care about what someone thinks or does simply based off of the family in which they were born or married does not resonate with me. Thoughts? Do you care about the “royal family” of England?

B/c it is apparently a need for many people. Witness the popular "fairy tale romance" coverage of the various royal weddings.
Many people theorize this subconscious need is the reason for the continuing support of the Kennedy family, as they fill the need for a royal American dynasty. You also see that to a lesser degree in The Bushes, and now one supposes, the Trumps.

I find it sad that a washed up divorced American actress was somehow able to drive a wedge between and split apart a man from his family. Royalty aside I can’t imagine any woman being worth alienating yourself from your family unless it was the most extreme circumstances. She seems like a sullen wench and he seems like a limp dick cuck. He had to sell his WW1 gun collection because of her for fricks sake.

In England, they are an integral institution and while the monarch doesn't make political decisions, they are influential and exert a certain amount of power. But really they are a symbol to the Brits that Great Britain was the largest empire in human history at one time.
Why do people here care about secondary royals who arent anywhere near the top of the line of succession? Cuz theyre bored, I guess.
That said, I'll check out Kate Middleton's arse any old time.
