In your travels at home and around the world, what is the weirdest and most bizarre culinary dish you have eaten? Did it taste horrible or was it surprisingly tasty?

I had a cookie with a cricket on it at the Insectarium in New Orleans. It was ok.

Pretty sure I ate some dog in China, can’t remember, there was a lot of alcohol involved, the locals were laughing at us as we ate, it was on skewers, had a lamb like taste.

M friend Jay Reimenschneider eats horse all the time. He gets it from his butcher.
Doubt either of these will be considered that weird by the board:
Cow tongue. Excellent 10/10.
Chicken heart. Meh, not bad.

When I was a kid, Pier One had a small food section, all imported, of course. We had fried crickets from a can, chocolate covered baby bees and ants, escargot, smoked octopus and kangaroo tail soup.
My dad would try anything once. He had grilled eel caught from Lake Pontchartrain. Clams from the same, but they were awful. This was before the dredging was stopped and they were very muddy.

I'm a huge fan of offal. I never pass up an opportunity to dine on a classic dish in the country of it's origin. I'm no Andrew Zimmern, because that guy is unscrupulous about what he puts down his gullet, but I have traveled to 19 countries outside of the U.S. and sampled a variety of local dishes.
Sheep's Head in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.
Menudo in Puerto Vallarta.
Haggis in Scotland
Blood Pudding in Scotland
Not Offal, but still exotic, Ostrich, Kudu, & Elan in South Africa, roo in Australia (had the opportunity to eat a Wichetty Grub but just couldn't do it)
But the weirdest food I have ever eaten was purchased at a local Asian market. If you've never had the displeasure of eating a Century Egg, then don't. Their is nothing redeeming about those grotesque gelatin barf bombs.
Most other "exotic" food has been consumed state side such as, Uni (Sea urchin), Jelly Fish Salad, Stir fry Sea Cucumber, Durian, Lamb's Tongue...

Raw whale meat sliced sashimi style is great. Pickled muktuk is good (whale blubber), regular stuff is OK.
Walrus is 50/50. Had it good a couple times, couple bad. People tend to overcook it and it gets tough. Not ny favorite but will eat.
Seal is delicious. Like a meatier liver. Great in soups and stews.
Akutaq (Eskimo ice cream): crisco + crowberries+powdered sugar and some water is the best. But all kinds are good like with salmonberries, lowbush blueberries, sourdock greens, etc. Its like buttercream frosting with berries, but they eat it straight.
