Well I can understand this. The government doesn’t bring in near enough money to run itself.

Yellen has already floated taxing unrealized gains, so no matter how stupid the proposed changes are, I will always believe they just might do it.

Well, if this passes, I can rest easy knowing that more of my hard earned retirement money is going to help those who could work but choose not to maintain their leisurely lifestyle.

When it says "could hurt high earners" it means "will f all investors in the a."

Do they really think that a tax on the wealthy (so-called) just leaves everyone else unscathed? No they don't. They think we are stupid and/or just don't care as long as their Soviet Politburo dreams come to fruition.

Well I max 401k so example they have pretty much $1k increase

Why put it in retirement if tax benefit minimized

It really does feel like they want to discourage savings

its cool taxes are going up...cause we are going to pay $100/hr minimum wage and lock prices at current levels, right?

Well, duh. If people are less self reliant, especially in their older years, then they will need the government to step in and provide/control them. Then, the government can justify even more tax increases for this new burden that they are so graciously taking on that they in know way encouraged or made happen.

This will go a long way towards making Mammaw's mason jar savings plan (buried in the back 40) seem safer than 401K's.

Retirement accounts were always the end game. Not only is it a mass of untaxed wealth just sitting there for the taking, Retirement accounts are also problematic!

~its hoarded wealth

~retirement accounts don't exist for the poor

~saving for retirement is systemic racism as its drilled into white culture but cultures of color don't learn about them or have the same opportunity for them.

I am 59. I have been planning under one set of rules for 30+ years. Don't mess with my retirement, damnit.

The problem is too many are not using retirement accounts for retirement. They are using them for estate planning tools. I know everyone will go Reeeeeeee! When they read this but it is true.
