ETA: talking about this public flagellation. You CANNOT appease the woke crowd. Once they have the scent any sign of weakness, justified or no, will only drive the mob into a greater frenzy.
This will attract the Gravies of the world looking to make a scene.
They can kiss their tips goodbye now. They’ll be flooded with SJWs and the Woke crowd, order extravagant meals, eat the whole thing, then complain and want it comped and still not leave a tip.

If this incident really occurred, which appears to be the case, this isn’t bending the knee.
The 2 employees in question seriously fricked up and should be fired, and the public apology is warranted.

I would normally agree with you, but an apology was 100% warranted in this case. The waiter and manager were wrong and then made it worse by lying.
They put the owner in an impossible position here. I think he handled it as well as he could.
