The ethics of upvoting yourself

The general consensus on TD is that it’s morally bankrupt to upvote yourself.
I’ve seen two arguments made about this.
1. It’s like voting for yourself in an election
2. If you aren’t supposed to upvote yourself, why would TD allow it?
What do you think?

If you have one upvote, it is perfectly acceptable to upvote your own post to show that the lone upvote isn’t your own.

Lol, the only reason I give myself an upcote is if I have one upvote. That way it is known I did not upload myself. I hate myself

There are also times when I will upvote and even downvote myself if it means taking my count from 13 to 14. I hate the number 13

I did it once where i was stuck at 99 upvotes just to get it to 100. And then downvoted myself once where I was at either 99 or 199 downvotes. But that’s it.

If I ever accidentally upvote myself, I always throw myself a downvote for good measure.
