If peak Lonzo is here to stay, does KAT become the target?

KAT (yes I know his defense is meh) but I think helps stretch the floor for Zion and can maybe grow together defensively.

The key is how we get him?

Bledsoe/Hayes/NAW/Picks will do it? The Timberwolves are legit worse than any other team in the league right now.

Would leave us with:

Kira / OPEN
Zo / Reddick
BI / Hart
Zion / Melli
KAT / Willy

KAT's FG3% is a fire 42.3% which defenses would have to honor, leaving Zion to feast at the paint.

Opinions on this?

KAT’s defense is not as bad as most people think anymore.

Not this year most likely.....

But there is a good chance he asks out before or during next season if he doesn’t want to continue the rebuild with Finch.

If the trade goes down next season, and you are keeping Lonzo then let’s say his salary is around 18mil. You are replacing JJ’s salary with resigning Josh Hart. And Adams’ and Bledsoe’s salaries are $17mil and $19mil respectively.

In order to make the trade work financially, you would have to send out Adams and Bledsoe. The money would work, but it’s doubtful the T-Wolves would like those players. Obviously picks would be involved, but they likely would prefer either NAW or Hayes to be included with the picks, and the Vets would go elsewhere.

It could work though....

KAT is a loser. We don't need that mentality down here.

Or we continue to use assets to put the perfect complementary role players on the team and add depth.

The team already has two young all-stars (Zion will for sure make the all-star team) on the squad.

I don’t like locking that much money up in bigs. This isn’t the era to have a max PF and C.

KAT would be an upgrade comparing to Adams for spacing and fit.
Unfortunately, he's too soft...The Pels need a leader.

Dude, I dont think anybody wants our trash bench guys. All these hypothetical trades that include jj ,naw ,hayes and even Bledsoe. I doubt anybody wants any of our sloppy seconds or old washed up guards

I doubt he's even available.

But I'd rather be looking for a max guard/wing.

I do think we need 1 more dude on this team that can get his own shot from all levels, and obviously, the better he is at it(up to a max dude) the better.

Kat would be an unreal fit next to Zion. He's the best shooting "not counting KD as a big" in the league.

What is Peak Lonzo exactly?

A 40% 3Pt shooter?

A 75% FT?

5 or so attempts at the rim per game?

If that’s who he is, why not just keep him?

I used to be against KAT because investing more money in a big is crazy plus his defense is not good, but then last season he shot 41.2% from deep on nearly 8 attempts per game. KAT might end being regarded as the best shooting big of all time for a while. KAT's honeymoon period is over too and it seems from a trade perspective now that his value has fallen if NBA insiders are to be believed.

I think it would be a huge gamble, but could REALLY open things up for BI and Zion.

Like Beal and the potential of Wood, KAT is a guy that I have been open to and been shite on by a lot of people, and I still think he would be a good fit here under the right circumstance.

However, I think the part of this being a realistic acquisition needs to be shelved for at least this season and next.

With his best friend now on the team, the craziness of this season with Covid killing his mom and supposedly doing a number on him, and the length of his contract, I don't think KAT is going anywhere for a couple of seasons.
