Hey, let’s focus on Ted Cruz taking a flight to Cancun over what could be the most important and devastating news in our lifetime. The Guardian

quote:

People living in poverty around the world are in danger of food shortages as the coronavirus crisis continues, the UN’s food envoy has warned, with the risk worse this year than in the period shortly after the pandemic began.

Agnes Kalibata, the special envoy to the UN secretary general for the food systems summit 2021, said: “Food systems have contracted, because of Covid-19. And food has become more expensive and, in some places, out of reach for people. Food is looking more challenging this year than last year.”

Many of the problems that experts predicted last year have been deferred, not solved, she said. “The main impact has been on markets, the shutdown of food markets. The lockdown has closed markets and that makes it very difficult for farmers.

“Last year, many countries used whatever opportunity they had to keep their food systems going. That is more difficult now. Food prices have increased significantly in some places.”

She highlighted the plight of African countries in particular, several of which are facing serious food price rises and shortages, exacerbated by problems such as drought predicted in east Africa, likely to affect northern Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. “This year, the predicted drought cycle is much more serious than last year,” she said.

And now we’ve got food inflation to worry about. The Western Producer

quote:

ROME, Italy (Reuters) — Global food prices rose for an eighth consecutive month in January to their highest since July 2014, the United Nations food agency said, as economies continue to battle fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Food and Agriculture Organization’s food price index, which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat and sugar, averaged 113.3 points last month, compared to December’s 108.6, revised up from 107.5. Jumps in cereals, sugar and vegetable oils led the rise, the agency said.

Some governments are taking action to tackle surging domestic food prices, although such moves drive global values higher by reducing supplies for international markets. The consequence is already evident in grain prices, such as corn, hitting multi-year highs.

Grain-consuming giant China is stockpiling supplies, while Argentina has suspended sales of corn for export until Feb. 28. Russia is imposing taxes on exports of wheat, barley and corn.

The World Bank said in December that food price increases, combined with reduced incomes, had aggravated chronic and acute hunger, hitting vulnerable households in almost every country.

And now in Portland are desperate enough to dive in dumpsters for food and police tried to put a stop to it, which if someone is hungry enough to eat from a dumpster, let them. Birds and rats are going to eat it eventually anyway, so why not? NY Post

And if Texas has run out of food so quickly due to the disruption of the supply lines, what has that meant for someone in Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, or Serbia when the supply lines have been disrupted now for now a year? Keep in mind there really are no Western journalists left in these despotic and poor countries, so I seriously doubt we have anywhere close to accurate numbers from them.

I really think many millions have starved to death over this at this point, and with Fauci saying we may keep this up until Christmas (plus that article I linked earlier from The Western Producer) it’s only going to get worse this year. This is a Great Reset in more ways than one and the innocents who simply want to eat will suffer for it.

No worries. The Treasury will issue bonds and the Fed will buy some of them and will fix everything.

Sounds like a culling. We will survive as we are self reliant. The left, not so much.

As far as the UN, they are impotent at every level in every way to do anything but help themselves at the expense of others. frick them. frick WHO. frick Fauci. frick Bill Gates.

Yeah, but will someone in Somalia? Seriously think about it: if people in Texas can’t get food due to a supply line disruption (that has been going on for less than a week), what does that mean for someone in the 3rd or even 2nd world?

Maybe we should stop worrying about a virus with 99% survival rate before we kill millions due to stupid lockdown policies

Have no fear!

The Fed says there is no inflation and Congress is trying to keep Trump from being buried in Arlington.

Government will save us!

This makes me angry. Don’t police have better things to do? We throw away a shite ton of food why does it matter if a homeless person wants half a burger that someone didn’t finish 30 minutes ago? Better he eat it than it go to waste

Remember when people used to package up leftovers to send to starving kids in China and Japan?

People can now start sending leftovers to feed starving hipsters in Portland. But you are an evil racist of black people don’t get first dibs.

I doubt that those people in Portland are desperate for food. Dumpster diving for food is a hippie lifestyle thing and is an activity that is right in the wheelhouse of Portland freaks.

The store called the cops to cover their asses. If the food was donated and a bunch of bums get sick, they’ll sue. If one of the other Portland basement dwellers get sick, they’ll sue.

It’s too late. The bomb went off underwater and we’re busy hoping to alleviate the effects of the first tremor while missing what’s coming.

That massive tidal wave is careening towards us and the best we can hope for at this point is survival. But the destruction and recovery is going to be brutal.

You can’t shut down the economy and schools and daycares and life for over a year and then just pretend there won’t be any consequences.

The government flexed its muscle and we flinched. There will be a fight now. And it’s going to wreck the next generation.

Aren’t these the dumpster divers that migrated from LA? If in Portland? Definitely in Seattle.

Let them starve. They chose this life. Why is it we’re made to feel sorry for someone else is choices? We need to give give give. But if we decided to quit and dumpster dive, we’re looked at as inferior?

And mentioning Ethiopia? That’s the Capitol of Starvation only for the past 50yrs. Like that’s even news!
