Looking for a no frills watch. Only important feature would be the date. My price range is within $300-450.

That screams Hamilton Khaki.

Another one to check out would be the boldr expedition. I like the original version more than the current one so I'd look for a used one. Here's a couple different colord of the original version.

I have this one as well. But I think I paid around $100 for it about a year and a half ago.

Check out Orient watches as well. They make a model for just about any look you want. Some of the best value in watches IMO.

I got a VAER Field Hunter w/ leather band ($209) back in May 2019 and absolutely love it. The closest model they have now is the C5 Field Black.

I'm rough on my gear and have worn this hunting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, etc... and it shows no signs of slowing down. It also came with 2 nylon straps that I change out when I anticipate getting wet. I really love the look, fit and finish of the watch. Highly recommend.

Here's a video review on YouTube comparing it to a Hamilton Khaki:

Better Than Hamilton For Half The Money

A few more pics "in the field":

Those ducks didn't seem to mind the shininess...

Luminox or Marathon for a solid long term choice.

I've got a bertucci like posted before, but mine doesn't have the date window and I hate that (big oversight on my part). It's a good "beating around" watch though. I've also got a hook and gaff that a few have mentioned. It's my favorite watch - wear it almost every day. The crown on the left side is great, especially when paddling/fishing.

Any Casio G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar watch.

This is the correct answer...

Working on 5+ years on mine, no battery replacement, no band replacement, nothing...wear it everyday in every condition - unless I am wearing a dress watch.

I’ve been wearing this every day for about 3 years. Excellent watch.

I do recommend replacing the band immediately for a basic nato strap.
