Central Heat not working

Thermostat is on but the heat, fan or A/C will not come on.
Electricians can’t come due to weather.
Any ideas on things we could check ourselves?
None of the breakers are tripped.

I’d call an HVAC tech not an electrician, first.
There’s nothing working? You may have a breaker in your hvac closet id check that. Otherwise could be a simple setting with your thermostat.

When was the last time it worked?

Can you see if you have a faulty float switch? I assume it will also shut down heat if it's tripped. I'm not positive though. Try bypassing them If you don't have multimeter. I know mine has 2. One on the drain pipe and one in the coil.

I had a similar issue with gas not lighting.
Went up in the attic and reset the switch going to the air handler/inside unit. That must have reset the electronics as it fired up after that.
Like others have suggested, change batteries in thermostat if it has them.

Where are you located. I’m an HVAC tech that just got off because of the weather

Our heat won't kick on, gas, only 6 years old, but we rarely use it. We just had it working a WEEK ago when our HVAC shut off due to an electrical issue at the disconnect. We have the fan but it WON'T turn off under any conditions so we unplugged it. We have two space heaters going into each of the kids rooms and the master bath heater running and it is comfortable in our house.

Did you try emergency heat op? I don’t remember the difference maybe just a relay? But there’s obviously a reason for emergency snd regular heat modes.
It could be a bad battery or float switch too.
Remove your battery if it has one and try it, if the power is off without a battery you have supply problem. If the battery is bad it’s supposed to still work I believe? But maybe that’s all it is.

Check the filter? If it’s clogged it could limit airflow.
