I’m looking at a few properties from BSL to ocean springs, we spent this past weekend in BSL and drive all over looking around.

In BSL we ate at the new place (thorny oyster) run by the Oxlot people and it was incredible. Really nice inside and the food was superior. We also picked up bread and pastries at a little bakery nearby. Yesterday we drove east, hit a cool brewery called Fly Llama in Biloxi (great beer) and ate at the shed in ocean springs before heading home (cool place, good enough).

if anyone has suggestions on other unique and worthwhile beer/bar/dining options I’d appreciate the info. The houses I’m looking at are mostly in BSL/pass Christian/Gulfport (will be a weekend place)

What time did you hut Fly Llama I was there yesterday

Ugly Pirate in Bay St. Louis has some fantastic pizza
Hops and Growler for beer
Near Ocean Springs you have a place called Mosaic that has a decent beer bar/garden then down the road is Craft Advisory which is meh... further down the road is Fort Bayou Brewing, nice place and decent food but beer is average

Friend,

We have eaten at Mary Mahoney’s in Biloxi. For Biloxi it is as good as it is going to get and it isn’t far from the George Ohr museum. It is much like a Southern version of a Creole restaurant. I usually get the broiled flounder, which is the closest version to Bruning’s I have found. It is better than Middendorf’s. The shrimp remoulade is good as an appetizer. Perhaps it is a bit farther than you desire, but the ride is usually pleasant.

Is this to be a beach or retirement home?

Yours,
TulaneLSU

I remember Mary Mahoneys from when I was a kid.
My dad grew up in Gulfport back in the 50’s and we used to go every summer. My grandfather caught a few of the original big fish at marine life

looking for just a weekend place, something small & cheap but well located

How so? We’re about to get one in BSL. Never had them, but I’m looking forward to their wings.

First one I went to was in Gulf Port across from Chandaluer Brewery and I loved it. I ate at the one on Government in Ocean Springs and hated it, brisket and wings were not good. Tried it again a year later and felt the same about.
Went to the one by Chandaluer again recently and hated everything I had. Even the Mac and cheese which is hard to mess up but mine was cold and gummy

I mostly eat wings here at TBT (sauce on the side...doctor that up with Sriracha), but traps wings are by far the best in town. Looking forward to a chopped beef sandwich offering from Murky. Hopefully their wings at least come in 3rd in town...I’m a fan of the jerk wings at Bodega, but that should be pretty easy to beat.
