So will HCQ and that's not an experimental drug

But Trump supported it, so it's of the devil.

It's not for last year's strain... it's a best guess as to what the four most prevalent strains this year will be. It's a crapshoot that more often than not they get pretty close on. Occasionally, they'll totally miss.

This can be very significant. COVID can be more than just a respiratory disease. My colleagues young patients with chronic neurological complications from COVID-related strokes, GI infarcts, heart disease, etc. Reducing morbidity is important.

While it hasn't been proven to prevent transmission, it probably significantly reduce it so you the more people that get vaccinated, the better chance we have of reducing prevalence.

So I don’t contract and give it to somebody who doesn’t have a 99.7% survival rate...like my parents who are in their 70’s.

Let them get the vaccine then. Problem solved.

Same thing with all the other COVID shite: If you feel like you need it, take it. For some people the reward outweighs the risk, so they should be adults and take the proper precautions. No one should be forced to take a medicine.

Flu has a 99.98% survival rate....but you still get your Flu vax every year right?

When was the vaccine developed? How long did it take to develop? How many studies have been conducted? How many people have been vaccinated over the years?

The Federal government doesn't realize it, but they explicitly disincentivized the entire healthy population from getting the vaccine. If social distancing and masking are going to continue even if we are all vaxxed there is no reason to get it.

What are y’all’s thoughts?

I've made my thoughts very clear to my friends, family and the gym guys. The reason I am opposed to wearing a mask is because I don't believe Covid is anything beyond this year's strain of the Flu. I've never been afraid of the flu. I've had the flu. It's great for losing a couple of pounds.

An analogy: I don't believe in vampires. So, if the doctor offered me a vampire shot that made me immune to bite's effect I would refuse. So, just because there is a vaccine for something I don't believe in why should I take the vaccine?

My wife and many others on the hospital staff feel the same way. Big headline this morning on Yahoo New: Hospital staff are refusing to take vaccine!

took the flu shot twice... was sick 2 hours later both times with the flu... i don't care how many doctors tell me the flu shot doesn't give me the flu... the only two times I've gotten the flu were 2 hours later after receiving the flu shot... common sense goes along way...

The flu shot did NOT give you the flu. The flu shot CANNOT give you the flu. It simply isn't possible.

I don’t see the point in taking the COVID Vaccine if I have a 99.97 survival rate. I already had COVID and was sick for less then a day. I don’t see the point when it hasn’t even been proven that it stops the spread of the virus. It just lessens the severity of it. I’m not Anti-Vax by any stretch. I just don’t think I need it and it was also rushed. Most vaccines take years to develop. What are y’all’s thoughts?

The Virus Czar Fauci may agree with you. This morning at a Covid19 Task Force presser Fauci was saying some vaccines may make a more dangerous variant of Covid19 through mutations.....lol!

Exactly this. I'm not sure if the shot gave it to me or not, but 100% of the times I've gotten the flu in my life have been years I've gotten the flu shot, and 0% of the times I've gotten the flu have been years I didn't get the flu shot. Statistically I'm more likely to catch the flu during years I've had the flu shot than years I haven't, so I don't get it.

I've had the flu twice in my life with the last time being 10 years ago, and both were years I got the shot. I haven't gotten the shot in 9 years, and haven't had the flu since. Between those two times, I didn't get the shot. Started getting it again for a few years and caught the flu again.

As for the China Virus vaccine, I had the virus 10 weeks ago, so I'm still good. Not sure if I'll take it after my "90 days of safety" but likely won't. The older and / or at-risk people around me are getting it to protect themselves, as they should. Once they are protected, and while masks and social distancing is required, I have no reason to get it.

And in fact the data is coming in that seems to suggest it does stop the spread. Which makes all the sense in the world.

Why does it make so much sense that it would stop the spread? Oh, because it lessens the severity of disease, iow lessening the viral load, iow it means that each infected person has less chance of spreading it, because each infected person is less likely to be symptomatic. IOW, asymptomatic spread is bullshite and always has been. They shut us down unnecessarily, with unknown costs. It was and is a terrible crime against humanity.

No need for all that deductive reasoning around here. Take that to the conspiracy theory board.

... people thinking they can think around here and get away with it...

Most viruses that we vaccinate against have very very high survival rates so I don't get this argument. It is possible to still get very very sick and have serious effects and live, personally, I would like to avoid that possible outcome.

Just watched that doctor's presentation. Must watch if you are interested in making the decision on taking or not taking the vaccination with a little science and current state of the vaccination. Also very scary!!

Correct. My wife has to get the flu shot every year. She gets the flu when it's a different strain. I've never had a flu shot. When she is sick I simply sleep in the guest room. I have never caught the flu from her.

OP -

This is not a discussion you can have with most people. Because there is too much anxiety surrounding it.

It’s much better to deal with facts. I can offer you a small % of facts to consider. I am part of a large medical group that is statewide.

We have 46 total physicians in the group. Want to take a guess as to how many of us have taken the COVID vaccine?

8.

(Eight)

One has diabetes, 4 of us are over 60, one has Lupus, and the others have medical issues in their family where any exposure could be serious. (Transplant recipients in nuclear family or parents battling cancer).

There is not a single physician in our group who has received the vaccine because “it could protect them or someone else”.

We have also had 5 physicians test positive for COVID in the past year and 2 of them were sick enough to miss a week of work. (Both said it was about like a bad flu).
