Yeah, the Marmot Precip is almost the industry standard for backpacking/ultralight waterproof, breathable layer. They're rugged enough, but hunting is its own kind of rough.

I was never that impressed with mine. It was fine for use around town but not for all day in the rain; it would consistently leave me wet after an hour or two. I leave it in he truck for a just-in-case now.
For hunting/trapping I’d just pick up an older pattern military gore-Tex and insulate as needed.

I have a Filson Skagit that is the best waterproof hunting jacket that I’ve owned. I also have a Sitka camo rain jacket that is great on warmer days. Bought it around this time last year when Rogers Sporting Goods put a bunch of Sitka gear on sale.

I still have my Gortex jacket from my military days and it's the GOAT; try to find one.

I ride motorcycles and use Frog Togs raingear. The ones I use are not insulated but are great for keeping water out.

I've been caught in driving rains running 70+ on the interstate and stayed dry.

Frog togs does sales online pretty regular. Their high end stuff is excellent and when you catch it on sale it's a great deal as well. I've had some uninsulated stuff for a few years now and it is great. I prefer it uninsulated and a little oversized so I can layer up under it. More versatile IMO

For 100% waterproof I’d look at helly Hansen pvc. Won’t be breathable.

I have a cabelas dry plus pullover that packs small that’s several years old that I’m happy with.

Some breathable ones you may need to treat with Nikwax periodically.

I have been through several sets rain gear, frog toggs , etc.. I run the 100 mph from bass pro. It’s The only rain gear I have found that actually keeps you dry after fishing in the rain all day.

Won't be any good for summer use, but the Columbia Alpine Jacket has become my goto jacket for anything above 20 degrees. They are kind of hard to find right now unfortunately. I am pretty rough on jackets and I have had this one for about a year and a half now with no complaints.

I bought this one from Sportman's Guide. Loved it so much bought one for my son. Surplus. Waterproof. Very insulated. Probably the best coat I have for crappy weather. Best of all it was $33.79 (with membership, otherwise $37.49) shipped.

For lighter gear, I have 3 Marmot waterproof coats. Love them.

Well, I also have two rain suits if it's going to be that bad.

They have some good deals on Frogg Toggs as well.
