What is that humidifying disc in the top left?
Humidifying beads. I’ve been researching best way to maintain, and I’ve come across a decent amount of literature saying this is the best solution. Here’s a LINK to them. They both absorb and release moisture, and they are supposed to maintain at a specific humidity. I bought 65%.
Problem is my humidifier is not holding humidity. Can’t get it above 62 no matter what I do. I’m returning and trying a new one. It arrives tomorrow.
Again this is very new to me, so I could be doing shite all wrong. Learning process

I grabbed a 5 pack of Padron (which are incredible).
I can’t find any, at the usual websites. I typically order from cigar page. The Padron 1964 anniversary maduro is my favorite cigar right now.

Did you season your humidor first? Don't know which one you bought, but seasoning is crucial. If you're going by an analog hygrometer, make sure to calibrate using the salt method. Digital hygrometers are obviously more accurate (cigar oasis recommended).
Also look into Bovedas. They're the best humidifiers in the industry. It's 2 way as well. I use 65%.

Get a couple bovita packs and throw it in the humidor. They work great and I can rehydrate them when they are getting crunchy by putting them in a sealed Tupperware with a shot glass of distilled water.

Stick them in a ziploc or airtight Tupperware container with the humidifying disc in the meantime. I also swapped out my 65s with 69s a while back, but that’s a personal preference.

I used to enjoy a good fap before and after a meal, but I'll probably keep that thread on the OT.

I did season it per manufacturer instructions. Maybe I didn’t do it properly, which is certainly possible. I used damp not wet rag to wipe down the inside, then set jar with water in it for 24 hours.
I bought this Bald Eagle one, and it’s the one that holds up to 50 that has a digital gauge (must be sold out right now), and I am replacing it with this Case Elegance hoping it is better. I didn’t want to spend a lot on my first one, just in case I find my way out of cigars in the future. Want to make sure this is a hobby I will stick with first.

At that price they are not solid spanish cedar. It’s just a thin sheet over the top of some crap wood. I have one myself. Stick with what you have and put some good looking cigars under the glass. Store the rest of your cigar stuff in there underneath. Then put your real cigars in tupperwear as suggested.

Do you always leave the plastic wrapper on your cigars in your humidor?
I’ve posted this a ton when someone asked about cigars. I’ve never had a bad Padron. I love those cigars

Padron 64 maduro. A sublime experience.

I'm doing so to keep my wife's flavored ones from tainting the others. I've read that is the best way when storing them in the same humidor. I do plan to grab a small one in the near future for the flavoreds, but in the meantime I am keeping them like this.

That was the best cigar experience I've had. They are pricey though, so I only bought five.

Possible the hygrometer needs calibrating?

First off, they're wrapped cellophane, not plastic. Cellophane is made from wood and is not recyclable, but it is biodegradable.
Cellophane doesn't really affect the humidity of the cigar, although naked cigars age faster.
If you're like me, and have a variety of different wrappers, they say keeping them in cellophane can help prevent them from comingling their flavors.
I leave them on.

Good article discussing cellophane off or on. Unless you're aging cigars it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. To each his own. I store mine cellophane off, in a 20 year old humidor I made myself. Have not ever had an issue, and tend to buy cigars in the same flavor and strength profile. I am a very casual cigar smoker now and enjoy the brand I enjoy. I will venture out and try different varieties, but always gravitate back to my "old faithful". My recommendation to anyone undertaking this hobby, don't make cigar smoking a complicated issue, try different varieties with a beer, scotch, whiskey or water, and always keep it simple. Cellophane off or on?

Ah, yeah that makes sense. You should get her a separate humidor. I get little things in the mail for 10 cigars and a humidor. It’s cheap.

Apologies Coach, I didn't mean to come across as condescending.
I didn't learn the difference between cellophane and plastic until I got in to cigars. Growing up, those terms were always used interchangeably.
