I enjoy it for what it is...cheaper chain bbq. Like I enjoy Chili’s for what it is.

It’s good. It’s not on the level of “homemade” local bbq, so you can’t try to compare it to those places. But for a different meal, it’s nice to go sit down and eat.

One of my favorite meals is the brisket sandwich on Texas toast with sweet sauce & beans
It’s not fancy but it’s good food

They do a real good smoked chicken. It’s much better today than it was before the 2016 flood. Looks nicer too.

My family enjoys the food here. I always get the sampler with coleslaw.

Decent enough BBQ.

Salad bar was awesome back in late 80’s/early 90’s.

Awful part of town for a restaurant.

I’ve always wondered why Sonny’s never really expanded their operations in LA and have almost exclusively maintained their focus on NW Florida, GA, AL and MS.

I like it. Lotta memories. Parents used to take us there after a Fun Fair Park night. I remember ordering the burger and taking the patty off and drenching it with that bbq sauce they had in the squirt bottle and eating it with a fork. So good. Can still taste it.

I like Sonny’s. It’s good enough for what it is and after the 2016 flood the remodeled restaurant is nice.

My favorite BBQ in Baton Rouge is Hannah Q in Mid City.

Sonny's was great in the 90's. The ribs had meat on them and it was all you can eat for 8.99, 1.00 more with the salad bar which was totally worth it.

I went back with a coworker after the flood and before the China virus and it was just ok. The staff was the best part of the visit. They still had the all you can eat ribs but they brought out like four mini ribs at a time and it just wasn't like I remembered.

Memphis Mac has legit bbq if that’s your thing. Firehouse bbq in Denham/Watson area is also really good.

Haven't been in a bit, but Sonny's used to offer a steak that spent some of its time in the smoker before being finished on the grill. Was right tasty!

Sonnys BBQ is awesome, and the only reason I venture to that part of town anymore. Their ribs and the sweet BBQ sauce are the 2 things that especially stand out.

I grew up going to that place back in the 80's
Have no idea who runs it now but back in the day it was some good stuff and it was packed all the time

For what it is, I really liked it back then
Don't go near as much now and it closed after the flood for awhile
I've had it a few times and it has changed a little on the food side but still reminds me of the old days a little bit

That one and Jay's BBQ were my go to's and I still like the nostalgia of both.

Even though it was a chain the one in Baton Rouge was run a little bit different

I've been to the one in Tallahassee as well

Never been to the restaurant, but I buy their BBQ Sauce from Sams. It's fantastic, and it is made with no corn syrup unlike some other stubby sauce. By that alone I give respect to Sonny's

I like it more than most BBq places in BR. In fact, I'm goin today. The only place I will eat Turkey at a restaurant. That being said, It's not for a healthy meal. I like to put it on their toast and smother it in sweet sauce. "I put that shite on everything"!!
