this is what is so interesting about Louisiana....when oil prices reach these levels, LA prospers. LA has struggled for years due to the lower prices of oil.

If my career is tied to this.....i would think about voting dem. may not do it, but i would not be as adamant about the Trump Train as i have been.
What you state has some truth to it, however, it comes at considerable costs:

-higher costs of living
-greater opportunity for conflict and loss of lives in the Middle East
- higher taxes to pay for military might to ensure shipping lanes stay open for oil
- loss of political capital as the US depends on Middle East countries
- Russia gains $$$ for their oil and exerts muscle over Europe
- less international oil for China as US exerts power. Greater chance of conflict. Greater chance world sides with China.

The maintenance department at the company I work for is all union. We have plumbers/pipe fitters, electricians, painters, and laborers. I’d say 97% of us voted trump. The suit and ties in the offices sold us out. It was not the will of the workers.

Yep. IMHO, the only Union members who voted for Biden are Teachers Unions, Government Unions and Service Workers Unions and probably Media Unions.

Real Unions for workers who do real jobs? They voted Trump.

One of the most confusing things to me is unions supporting democrats. Democrats always want regulation that will shutdown blue collar jobs but those dummies keep voting for them

The Dems also promise strong union protections and higher minimum wages (increases in minimum wage usually means the union wage scale slides up).

What are y'all going to do about that? Keep paying dues, keep voting for the same sell outs?

I don’t think anyone joins a union for minimum wage

I feel bad for him but I also want to tell him he should've thought long and hard about the impacts of a President* Biden on his job.

Some people just need a sledgehammer to the head to wake up. He's about to find himself in a very untenable position.

Exactly right,

There are construction unions, factory unions and public service unions. There isn’t just one Union.

The public service unions are the largest and they vote and support Dems.

I asked this question last night, but it was late. Last year before the election I read a article about the Keystone Pipeline. Pretty sure it was from a link on the poliboard.

Besides distance is there a big difference between the 1st phase and the XL phase?

Have they started building the XL portion yet?

We agree. i guess the downvotes think that I prefer one way or another. i was simply stating fact. LA does better with higher oil prices. That is until JBE and his friends sue the oil companies right back to texas.

I've a very good friend who works in oil and gas and was pro-Biden. Needless to say, he's "very surprised" Biden has taken the anti-fossil fuel position he has.

I just can't imagine someone in your friend's position voting for Biden. The man said he was going to destroy the industry, I would have taken him at his word.

Then you should all immediately stop paying your dues and strike against your union.

That's only true if the oil is coming from Louisiana. If it's coming from foreign or non-LA sources, Louisiana is screwed with the rest of us.

XL portion is the part that was under construction and is now going to be scrapped. The remaining phases of the system were put into service between 2010 and 2016.
