so you were an exception, not the rule. You do understand 190 on 70% of US males at that height is fat, right?
Stop trying to use an exception to make it seem like bullshite. 90% of the country doesnt lift weights, I mean truely lift weights.
How does this not register for most people? Is it denial?
If you bust your arse in the gym, lift heavy, eat real food and are in great shape then it doesn't apply to you. You're the exception. If you fit this description the BMI chart isn't even needed. This is a very, very low percentage of people. If you aren't actively exercising and lifting heavy then yes, the BMI chart applies to you.

The average US soldier in World War II, upon entrance into boot camp, was 26 years old, 5’ 8”, and weighed 144 pounds. This was what the average American adult male looked like before sedentary lifestyle, fast food, processed sugars and video games.
Also didn't help a lot of soldiers were joining the army after the Great Depression.

because most people are overweight or obese on the chart adn do not want to admit that. So they use the excuse that they lift and used to be in great shape and the chart still said they were fat.
most people lie and do not want to take responsibility for their actions.

Our findings refute the notion that a physically active lifestyle can completely negate the deleterious effects of overweight and obesity.

I was 220 when I made the changes (260 at one point) and thought I just needed to lose a "few" lbs.

At the end of 2016 I was up to about 220lbs at 5'9". I knew I was fat but I didn't know how fat until I lost it all. I look back at my before/afters and can only laugh. It was gross.

Exact same. Started paying attention to what I ate (avoided sugar), cooked every meal, switched to liquor instead of beer and hit the gym 5x a week. By the end of that year I was down to 160lbs and more cut than I was in high school. Now it's just maintenance and that's easy now that I know what I'm doing.

This doesn’t even make sense

know how I know you dont understand what the average bodyfat is on the average gym rat??
You’re the biggest tryhard elitist tool on this website. I’ve been bodybuilding for going on 20 years, I don’t give a shite about the average gym rat.

I can tell you, 98% of this board can not run a 7 min mile. I know I sure as frick cant
Well I've been shite on by this board for my weight and I can run a mile at a little under 6:30. I have a fitness log that I infrequently update over on the health/fitness board.
So don't mind me if I dont take the OT lounge too seriously when it comes to fitness.

what doesnt make sense about it. The FFMI max for a natural trainee is around 175 or so lbs at that height. do the math.

yea such an elitist. WTF?? please point me where i have been a try hard or elitist. Anything but and freely admit when I am a fat arse, which is currently.

good for you. but dont try and act like BMI is bullshite because you are an exception to the rule or think 5'10" 200lbs isnt normally a fat arse. Dont use yourself, who is an exception to the rule, to act like the rules are stupid.

I read some article once that in being asked how active one is that it is generally overstated by 50 to 75%.
I believe it. On those tracking apps, when they ask whether you are sedentary, lightly active, or full active.. most people say lightly active. What they don't realize is that you must hit 5k-10k steps per day to be lightly active, which is roughly 2-4 miles.

That's awesome. Surely you see that this makes you the exception, right? What would you call someone that weighs what you do but doesn't lift?

I don't get this anyway. If you're so super special that you're the exception, you should be bragging about it. Not trying to lump all the general public into your group.

just to pass

The only thing I couldn't pass right now is the mile run because I have hip and knee issues. Calculated my BMI and it's 22 kg/m2.

Its pretty simple, if you can't do 5 dead hang chins (75% of this board cant and 90% of the population over 40 cant) then you are weak as shite or more than likely, you are fat.
Upper body strength doesn't really mean you're fat or not.
I know some long distance runners with barely any body fat that probably can't do that because they have barely any muscle up top either.
And I can do that fairly easily and I'm slightly over my doc's preferred BMI for a 40 year old (although not fat in appearance by any means besides a lil dad bod action where by 6 pack used to be )

I've been running since my days in the Air Force and hate that I'm not as fast as I used to be. I'm staring at a possible hip replacement in the near future and maybe that will help.
