This is the start of this country going immediately in the toilet. And it will get worse and worse every single day for a long time. All because Trump said some mean mean things and tweets a lot.
Well done Liberals. You made this country a shithole like you wanted. You get what you vote for.

Does minimum wage matter to those who don't work?
Plus if these shitty thug workers are makin 15 flipping some burger, whats a regular combo gonna cost at mcdonalds, like almost $20? Hell a combo costs almost 8-10$ now at most places and those shite workers ain't getting paid no 15$.
Hell I bet most of those people shouting outs for 15$/hr ain't hardly paid any taxes for most of their life, if you don't count lotto tickets as a tax.

Bring in the robots and to hell with the minimum wage losers.
If they want to make more money then learn a skill and quit bitching.

Mark Cuban said, several yrs ago, that Europe then was installing automation / robots in all its fast food businesses in order to fight the higher wages there. Look at what McDonald's is doing now, here, with all its automated ordering stations. That technology is easily expandable to where in the near future, McDonald's here, like in Europe now, will only have 1-2 humans in a store. Do the math: that's a job loss of what, 7-8-9 people? In each McDonald's. All across the country. Times B.King, Wendy's, etc etc

Well, that's the end of the 9-to-5 fast food hustle. It's always been such a fine way to pay for a family, a Chevrolet, and a mortgage on a nice suburban split-level.
ETA: Seriously, I have no problem with a $15 minimum wage. Business groups have protested every damned new regulation from abolition to child labor laws to the Clean Water Act. When I was getting started in the workforce the ADA was going to send hamburger prices into the sky. It didn't happen then and it won't now.

So you don't see a potential problem when businesses have to double wages right after they've practically been shutdown for early a year?

I think the shutdown is the problem. I don't think $15 / hour is the problem. And I roll my eyes when people use the virus as an excuse. That knife cuts both ways.

what happens to the people who make 15 an hour right now? do they get fricked over, or do they get a likewise bump in pay?
what about the people who made 25 an hour. now that the people making 15 an hour got bumped up to 25 an hour, surely they arent going to do the same job for, effectively, a massive pay cut. no they need a raise as well.
but wait. theres a group above them.
and above them
etc.
etc
etc.
so. now that EVERYONE has gotten a raise, what does that do for anyone besides increase the cost of goods and services and decreasing the amount of hours worked by hourly employees?

Well the shutdown happened.
And now Biden is proposing to enact this very soon.
Again, do you see a potential problem?

The obvious result of a $15 / hour wage law is inflation, so yes, they get a bump in pay. It won't be immediate, but it will happen.

Inflation is not a purely bad thing. It does force wages up- wages are just one more price. And those of us who aren't independently wealthy but did pay attention in school have low-interest debt. It would be justifiable reward if inflation (and thus wage growth) outpaced that 1-2% cost of money we're paying on our houses and cars. At present, it is not.

so the guy that makes $15 an hour today is effectively told “frick you, youre now min wage”?
seems fair.

Wage compaction, I manage a bunch of grants and had to deal with this garbage.
We boosted a bunch of "low-level" non-profit people $2 an hour, which rose them to the level of their direct managers. So we had to boost their pay as well.
2 vs 1.25 vs .75 up to $21/hour.
Lowest got $2, the next lowest range got 1.25, the next level got .75.
15 vs 17 vs 21 before ended up being 17 vs 18.25 vs 21.75.

Fairness arguments are pretty infantile.
The guy making $15 / hour already is probably mostly worried about someone smashing his window and stealing his TV while he's at work. I don't think he's too hung up on this petty totem pole of poor people you're positing. If $15 / hour turns a few ne'er-do-wells into honest burger-flippers, he'll take it.
How much opposition to a minimum wage increase do you really see from people making $15 / hour? Think about it.
