It’s bar napkin math everything you consume will double
You will not buy a home we will have runaway inflation and interest rates won’t mater we are fricked so bad it’s not even funny.

Lol no. Employees currently making 15 or above are going to expect a raise when this goes into effect. In what fantasy world do criminals currently stealing shite or committing robberies suddenly go get a fn job flipping burgers as you put it.
In our pharmacy, we will have to let at least one person go bc our techs make 17 now and if everyone at low skill jobs are making 15, their pay has to go up for the amount of work they currently do. When burger flippers are getting 15, my salary as a pharmacist sure as shite will have to increase. The owner of the pharmacy will have to make a tough decision on who to let go. Now extrapolate that out to every business and you see the problem or you can continue to look in your naive fantasy world

Fast food was paying over $11 post Katrina in Laplace. They’ll trim staff, keep the competent employees. McDonald’s will get ice cream machines running to improve bottom line. Long term, win

Entry level jobs won’t exist
Yep nobody will be able to afford to train you to do a job at $15/hr.
Can’t pay you $30k a year to put cans on a shelf.
Prices will go up and employee headcount will go down to offset the balance in small business.
For less than $30k I can easily eliminate a cashier for a couple kiosk.

Minimum wage increase is coming at a very bad time for pharmacy, if it comes.
You won’t get any raises. RNs will make more easily in 5 years.

If I was still just a staff pharmacist at a chain, I would completely agree with you but my situation is much different and that was before all of the added responsibilities of covid vaccinations

$20 Big Macs
What if I told you that a Big Mac in Denmark costs around $5.15 yet their minimum wage for restaurant workers is roughly $20?

Let's make it $40/hr if it doesn't really impact prices or businesses.

One of the frustrating things about the current state of political discourse is the rejection of nuance.

Increasing the minimum wage by 110% in Louisiana has nothing to do with the price of a Big Mac in Denmark. It's not an insignificant increase here and I think it would be more shocking than people are suggesting.

Absolutely. It is not cut and dry though. There are large companies like Amazon and Walmart that would barely feel it while some mom n pops would struggle.
Some items are sensitive to the price floor of labor and some aren't as sensitive.
There's a lot of gray area.

Again, the $15 min wage is federal only. Louisiana or any other state does not have to adopt it. Any business in LA or any other state will not have to pay $15 unless they have a federal contract or if their state adopts the $15 min wage.

You may have misunderstood. The proposed minimum wage applies to virtually everything. The scope isn't limited to federal contracts.
A state can not ignore a federal minimum wage law, in case that's what you were thinking.
