If anyone is smart enough to realize it, and if it is not too late.

They have accused him of falsely claiming the election was stolen.

Doesn't he get to present a defense? The second they vote to impeach him, the trap is set. You name your managers and MOVE. Move to seize evidence with the power of the US Senate subpoena power, machines, ballots, ANYTHING,NOTHING is exempt, anywhere.

If anyone refuses, they are guilty of a crime. The Dems might have walked into a trap, that is if the evidence still exists. If laws have been broken and evidence does not or has not been preserved as the law says, you got people at a trial where the entire nation watches with no choice but to explain why it was not.

Trump might just be crazy like a fox here. The entire nation watching and you drag everybody up there, they don't have a choice, they can't run. From Stretchin Gretchin to Ratfink, all of them, and make them answer the questions so far that they don't want to answer, with the evidence right there for all to see, and everyone in the country watching.

You finally get what you wanted all along....the entire country seeing the evidence of how they stole the election, and the Dems have to sit there while you present it for all to see.

The Senate will not hold a trial.

This impeachment is just a dog and pony show.

Dems do not care what happens in the next 4 years because they know they can rig the election.
Scandals, lies, improprieties, embezzling, etc. don't matter because they control the ballot boxes.

I have a feeling a number of the Dem caucus are used to shows involving animals.

Their allegation is that he stoked violence by "falsely claiming" he won the election.

Sounds to me like he should be able to make his case, huh?

They have to Gumbo.

"In impeachment proceedings, the House of Representatives charges an official of the federal government by approving, by majority vote, articles of impeachment. A committee of representatives, called “managers,” acts as prosecutors before the Senate. The Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment in which senators consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official. In the case of presidential impeachment trials, the chief justice of the United States presides. The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office. In some cases, the Senate has also disqualified such officials from holding public offices in the future. There is no appeal. Since 1789, about half of Senate impeachment trials have resulted in conviction and removal from office."

They have to if Trump demands it. If he does the Dems are SCREWED and do not realize it yet.

He gets to present a defense against the charges. And what a defense it will be with the whole country riveted to it.

Can't throw it out. No laches.

I doubt the impeachment will be based on the merit of his claims and will be based on their claim of "inciting" what happened last week.

There is procedure. They want Trump to never be able to run for office again. Again,

There are rules and regulations that demand to be followed. The Senate doesn't get the opportunity to simply decline a debate.

Is this like when they bamboozled his last defense - making up the rules and only allowing who they approved. How many did they approve again?

The premise is that if you are running for President, then you can’t be arrested. This is why many Dems ran for President.

The same thing is happening with impeachment.

The Dems believe that if they are impeaching the President, then the President can’t touch them. Or it will appear like some kind of revenge or “pay back”

This all a show to supposedly protect them these last few days from the President taking their asses out...
