Which could also be why Turtle changed his tune on impeachment proceedings in the senate.

there won't be a trial...the impeachment hearings are all for show...Trump doesn't care if he is impeached...it makes him more of a martyr.

In criminal law, incitement is the encouragement of another person to commit a crime. Trump did not do that. Protests often turn violent...it has happened countless times in history. Will all protest organizers in the future be held accountable for any violence that occurs afterward?

Except you are forgetting one major thing:

THEY ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER!

even the people who would be in charge of seizing the evidence.

That pertains to office holders. Trump won't be an office holder.

Chicken if they are stupid enough, and I am banking on Chuck Schumer when he takes charge being just that stupid, they will.

If there is a trial, there will be a defense. My defense and I am betting Trump's, will be that the charges are slanderous and defamatory, because the election was stolen.

You finally get what you wanted all along....the entire country seeing the evidence of how they stole the election, and the Dems have to sit there while you present it for all to see.

I would love to see all the evidence of "stolen election" presented, because up to this point there's been a lot of conjecture, but not a lot of proof that's seen the light of day. Let's see it.

Think of it like this, Schumer will be the presiding officer of the Senate. So Pelosi has demanded impeachment and in the same breath and same party, Schumer will not allow a trial?

Knee jerk without thinking it through. With just a week or so left, it would be an utter waste of time.

That's plenty of time and by rule, can be demanded immediately to commence.

I just don't believe it's going to happen. Impeachment and subsequent senate trials are for elected and appointed officials in the federal government.

Now I don't believe this question has ever been answered by the courts however IMO there is a very strong case to be made that senate trials do not pertain to non-office holders.

But if the senate does proceed down that road I mean they can do whatever the frick they want. They can have a trial and not allow Donald to defend himself. They can literally make up rules as they go.

If they do not allow him to present a defense I don't think they can get away with that. Not even the Dems.

Trump can just make the case at that point that they are truly illegitmate and demand a trial and defense.

Only if it isn't a Democrat inciting. Then it is known as a "peaceful protest".

Agreed. The ball is firmly in the court of Schumer. What do they have to hide if there isn't evidence. I think McConnell will make a good case about precedent as we have never had an impeachment of a President not be given its chance for defense and to firmly show to the American people this was a fair election via lack of evidence. Hell it might even convince folks like Manchin to come aboard and vote yes for a trial.

It'll never see the light of day in the Senate. Facts can't get out.

If Barr had a spine all of this could have been avoided.

Why wouldn't they have filed a case alleging fraud over the last 2 months?
