Jimmy Fallon Drew the Smallest ‘Tonight Show’ TV Audience Ever Last Night

Monday’s “Tonight Show” averaged the smallest TV audience ever for an original episode of the show, according to early ratings. Jimmy Fallon drew just 947,000 total viewers last night.
Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” on CBS won the evening with 2.03 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s Live + Same Day fast-national numbers. ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” came in second place among the late-night television programs with 1.67 million total viewers.
Numbers for each of those shows are subject to adjustment when final figures are tallied. Those are expected to be available Wednesday.
While this specific historical Nielsen data only dates back to 1986, it is safe to say that Johnny Carson always attracted more than a million viewers in a very different era. (Carson hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1962 to 1992. Jay Leno took over in ’92.)
The previous low for an original “Tonight Show” episode came on Sept. 25, 2020, when Fallon pulled in 992,000 total viewers following a Stanley Cup Finals game. The start to that episode was a bit delayed due to the live hockey coverage.
Prior to the post-hockey episode, the show’s record low came from Aug. 18, 2020’s episode, when Jimmy drew 1 million total viewers on the nose.
Yeah, it’s been a rough stretch for Fallon — especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.

What the frick does the Pandemic have to do with shitty ratings? I mean considering everybody has to stay home watching TV. Give me a goddamn fricking break.

How about censorship, tyranny, and oppression instead?

But he lost to two guys who are far more loud in their hate of all that is right-leaning.

A shame. Fallon is by far the least political of the talk show set.

frick Fallon, frick Colbert, frick Kimmel in particular.

At his peak, Carson was pulling 40 million viewers.
These 1-2 million viewer numbers the late night hosts are pulling are pathetic. In a nation of 330 million people, it means less than 1% of the population are watching these shows.

Good
They all are political shows and not entertainment. Haven’t watched any for a few years now.

P.S. There is a Johnny Carson Tonight Show channel on Pluto. It reminds me of my childhood, and sneakily staying up late to watch the adults.

It's sad to me that anyone still watches any of that garbage. Comedy is dead.
I wonder how many "viewers" are actually awake?

It wasn’t too long ago when Fallon bent the knee & had a a Hillary Cry-Fest! I couldn’t believe what I saw that night. It was bizarre & the ultimate Cuck move.

Yep media powers that be gave Fallon a hard time when he got along so well w Trump. Saying his ratings are falling....BS! He's actually the funniest of the three!
For your Ratings to be High you have to BASH Trump like Colbert & Kimmel = Weak n Pathetic! Those dudes need their azz kicked!

To be fair, his show is also garbage. "Hmmmm, what do these idiots watching want to see? Oh I know, lets go to Olive Garden with Post Malone!! That's what those idiots like to watch, right? Then we'll play drinking games with J-Law and Gwyneth Paltrow!"

well, thankfully only less than 2 million shills are actively taking in the light of gas still.

There's a lot to be said for human interaction in terms of interviews and audiences. I'm not saying that Jimmy Fallon is a great interviewer by any stretch, but any chance you have of capturing some magic with a guest or an audience is gone when the guest and audience don't really exist
All the late night shows have devolved into watching the host facetime with someone else. I can't imagine very many people are interested in that

What happened to Conan after the memes of him swimming in garbage?

quote:that is his problem. If he was a one trick pony like Colbert and cryin Kimmel he would get better ratings.
Fallon is the least political

Liberalism should be registered in medical journals as a DISEASE!!!!!
It is the leading killer of Americans today.....think about that and you will agree!

Honestly, I'm really hoping that some good news coming up is all these shows going under. They are honestly just glorified propaganda and commercials for corporatist shite. Podcasts are much better and more funny than these hacks are.
