Who has one and how much do you like it? Have been fascinated by this gun and rolling blocks in general since I was a child. I have casually looked for one in a specific caliber and style for the last 10 years. Well.... I found one local and have the opportunity to buy it. The gun is a .243(I know) no. 1v. Now it’s been used but I would be able to get for 30% below market value.

I sold mine about 13 years ago when I was in a terrible spot. And I‘be regretted it every day since. I absolutely loved it.

I don't own one, but they are very cool. It would be nice to have one in something like 280ai or similar.

They're beautiful. Buy it.

My FIL has one in .270, and he loves it.
He doesn't shoot it anymore because of his shoulder, and chooses to shoot my son's 7mm-08 instead, but that gun is sweet.

Love to own one in some off the wall cartridge, hardly ever see them locally though.

Not known for the greatest accuracy. I’ve considered one since I’m a lefty.

Had one in .270 Good gun, but I had a Winchester Model 70 that I used more, liked the idea of having a quick follow up shot so I sold the No. 1,,,,couldn’t complain about it, just didn’t use the No.1.

I have 4 ((.280, .257 Roberts, .338/06, .30/06) that are one hole wonders for 5 shot groups. The accuracy complaints generally are related to the forearm screw that mist people overtighen and it can negatively affect accuracy. I have not experienced this problem. I handload so I can’t comment on the factory ammo accuracy. Some of my more accurate rifles with ragged hole results

I never shot one, but they are cool as hell and you should buy it.

This is what I’ve heard as well. Not to dismiss 257s comment, those rumors are out there too. I’m not looking for a tack driver, but this gun has peaked my interest for a long time. One of those guns you see as a kid and say, I’ll have one of those one day. I’m gonna check it off my list next week.

Saw one in 30-30 at Outdoor Outpost near Manchester Tn. Go figure. That was a couple years ago, they might still have it.

Have always wanted one just have never walked into a place that had the one I wanted.
I used to hunt with some guys that had them and they were some big deer killing machines, not the wanna be deer killers that stacked bodies but just the ol guy that went out and shot big bucks wore cool hats and flannel shirts and Filson jackets type of hunters.
I think I will start looking for that gun a lil more...

Always felt like it was the prettiest rifle I could afford to buy and lucked into a very good deal on a 30/06 a few years ago. Very nice. I have heard the accuracy is inconsistent from gun to gun. Mine seems to shoot where I aim it.

This is true and odd. You would think that action would be inherently accurate. Not so I've been told.

Have one in .25-06. It’s by far the most accurate factory rifle I have ever shot! I have several bolt guns that shoot just as good but they all have had a good bit of custom work done on them to get them there.

I have one in 30-06 and mine is plenty accurate, esp with heavier bullets. So I shoot 180 gr bullets with the gun zeroed at 200 yds. I'm not a great shooter but am very confident when using it.

I've always heard they could be pretty finicky w/ accuracy. OTOH, my best friend has one in 270 and although it didn't start out very accurate, it now is very accurate. He played around w/ the fore end, developed good handloads and I don't know what else, but it now reliably shoots <3/4" groups at 100 yards w/ his handloads. It's a classic, pretty gun. He also bobbed barrel to 22", not because of accuracy, but because it didn't handle as well to him at the factory length.
I'm in the "buy it" category!
Maybe you can use it as a "varmint" gun.

I have a Ruger No 1A in 7x57 - with a nice stock. The forend, as mentioned, can be an issue but there are a couple easy things to help if that is a problem. Mine likes hand loaded Nosler 140 Ballistic Tips and will shoot them into legitimate 1/2"-3/4" five shot groups if I am having a good day. It is very surprising how well some of these shoot.
It a great hunting rifle - short and easy to handle. Haven't hunted with it in a few years - I need to correct that! They are hard to find in person - I've seen a few at Cabela's gun rooms over the years but not many dealers stock them and if they do, there's only one or two on the shelf to look over.
