Eugene Bunch, also known as Captain J. F. Gerard, was a school teacher turned train robber. Bunch was always a gentleman during the four years he robbed trains.

Born in Mississippi, Bunch was well-educated and enlisted in the Civil War in Louisiana in May 1861. He served in Company E. of the Third Louisiana Calvary. After the war ended, he married a girl from a neighboring parish. He worked as a school teacher in Louisiana when the couple moved to Gainesville, Texas, where he edited a local newspaper. Allegedly, he also became heavily involved in gambling, and perhaps, for this reason, he turned to train robbery.

Along with a few other bandits, the group robbed trains in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi from 1888 to 1892. Upon arriving on the train, Bunch always spoke softly to the express car messengers, telling them that if they did not open their safes, he would “blow their brains out.” Before robbing the train’s passengers, he always politely introduced himself as Captain J. F. Gerard. To train passengers, he tipped his hat to the ladies and didn’t take their handbags. Though he was just as gentlemanly to the men, he did, however, take their wallets.

For the four years Bunch operated, he robbed six trains, making off with more than $30,000. But for Bunch, like many others, it wasn’t to last. After making his largest robbery in 1892, taking some $20,000 from a train near New Orleans, he was heavily pursued by Pinkerton agents. Before long, they tracked him to a swamp in Louisiana and, on August 21, 1892, shot and killed him and his cohorts. He is buried in Franklinton, Louisiana.

Thank God for USAA! They are the only insurance company that is not trying to totally screw us. I just switched home and auto to them and saved nearly $4k a year. Had liberty mutual and my rate had increased about 375% since 2022.
I hear this all the time. I have 5 of them and this was my 3rd season running them. Long format an sd card, update the firmware, put lithium batteries in, and deploy in September. Pick them up in February and take the batteries out of them. Next year repeat the process. All cameras send several thousand pictures each year and never have had a single issue.

Buck 112 Ranger Auto Elite
My son (10) has spent the past 2 summers and is spending this summer with my parents. They live out in the country with no internet so he spends the summers much like I did as a child. Learning to garden/farm, hanging out with all the old men at the local gas station (drinking coffee), swimming, fishing, target shooting everyday, etc... Every school break he begs to go hangout at their house. Think of all the memories he is making and all of the experiences that 99% of kids these days are not exposed to any longer. He truly is lucky to have this opportunity!!
Savage Mark II with Nikon BDC 3-9x40 shooting CCI mini mags. Have not shot this challenge but with calm wind shoots about a 4 inch 5 shot group at 200 yards. Been a while since I’ve shot at that distance with if but if I remember correctly it’s about 32 inches of drop with a 50 yard zero.
I’ve got ton of knives but by EDC is a Buck 112 Ranger Auto Elite and my go to skinner is a Buck 105 Pathfinder fixed blade. I’ve had the 105 for close to 30 years and it has cleaned 100+ white tails, about a dozen elk, 50+ turkeys and countless small game animals.
Bucks are a pain to sharpen but they hold an edge once sharp.
Kimber Micro 9, S&W j frame, or Glock 22 OWB,
Ruger LCP or Bond Derringer in my pocket
Extra mag and a Buck 112 auto on my belt.
Plus usually an AR and a 10/22 in the truck

Over 200 sets of spurs. Older gentleman that hunts 4-5 states every year. About 150 sets were his and the other 50 or 60 were his wife’s.
Here is the LDWF press releases about it.

For me, I no longer have a grill since I didn’t use it for over a year when I really started using the BS. I still have the smoker for anything that need to go low and slow like ribs and Boston butts.

Have one in .25-06. It’s by far the most accurate factory rifle I have ever shot! I have several bolt guns that shoot just as good but they all have had a good bit of custom work done on them to get them there.
