These actions literally happened within a substantial section of our population’s lifetime

It’s not like Nazi history was dream up by Tolkien on Middle Earth

Are people this retarded to not think this could happen again when it is EXACTLY what is actually happening in parts of Asia right now?

They're not. And there are legitimate comparisons. There are also aspects that make it a bad comparison.

Also, most people have a very limited knowledge of history and are only able to reach for Hitler and Nazi comparisons as a description for any sort of authoritarian regime.

Are they?

They seem pretty common.

I think It’s just who you compare to him.

It was perfectly fine when Trump and his supporters were being called Hitler/Nazis.

I’m reading a book that interviewed people that have lived through totalitarian government transition and they say it’s Identical to what we’re seeing in America over the last 10 years

Trump has a subset of his followers believing in conspiracies, that they are 'patriots' and that they should carry out terror attacks. I'd say it's pretty close and Hitler and Nazi comparison's are quite relevant.

Luckily, we still have an overwhelming majority who are able to critically reason and have not fallen victim.

They are not off limits and they compare closely to what the left is doing right now.

I was having a discussion about Nazis yesterday with a friend.
Me: 'James Mason was OK as Rommel but he just doesn't look like a Nazi.'
Friend: 'Hell, Hitler didn't really look like a Nazi. Who's the most Nazi looking Nazi?'
Me: 'I gotta go with Reinhard Heydrich.

Can you just go on record that you think all the silencing of different political beliefs is ok?

Let's see, one side presents history of the rise of the Nazi regime and the steps they made to seize power and silence dissent, and make that comparison.

The other screams, "Orange man Bad, Trump's a nazi" without zero comparisons to the nazi regime and Trump. The only similarities between the rise of the Nazi's and the Trump presidency was the rise in Nationalism in America. Other than that, there are no shared scenarios between the 2.

Please, by all means, pick an example from 1920s/30s Germany and Hitler's rise to power, and compare them to Trump and we can discuss.

I'm totally on board with quelling terror as long as I get to define it.

This should be seen as a good thing. Wanting America to be better than everyone else should always be good. Unfortunately, the left thinks that's racist.

The official DHS description of Terrorists were “redefined” a decade ago and most people don’t remember or even know it

And the description goes something like this - white, conservative extremist, shops at Walmart, goes to church

Yes. That actually happened.

And here we are wondering what is happening now.

White, heterosexual, conservative males are openly being treated, more and more, as subhuman
