Don't sign an extension with a franchise that clearly has no clue, it didn't when he got drafted, didn't when he signed the extension.

Houston should keep him till contract runs out, then franchise tag him, if they can.

Didn’t he just sign an extension a few months ago?

Given his knee issues from college and how nearly impossible it is for a QB to hit URFA (especially as a first round pick) , he didn’t really have much of a choice but to take the money on the table

He’s done what he needed to do but Bill O’Brien flushed several seasons down the toilet through trading off good talent for pennies and acquiring new talent at extreme cost, gutting the team in the process.

All the bad trades are on Easterby. Now, I’m not trying to say O’Brien isn’t at fault, but prior to Easterby arriving there were at least other adult voices in the room.

Timeline:
Easterby Hires on April 2019
GM Gaine fired June 2019
O’Brien/Easterby control all player decisions
Trade for Duke Johnson August 2019
Trade for Tunsil in August 2019
Trade for Gareon Conley Oct 2019
Trade Hopkins last year.

It’s been 100% downhill train wreck since they hired a team Champlain and allowed him to be involved with football ops

BOB was coach / GM, so the main blame falls on him.

If this little shitsucker was part of the problem, the next GM better can him.

Agree 1000%

If caserio fires Easterby, he can be the worst GM ever, and we’d be in a better spot than before

Easterby was caught tampering to get Casserio in Houston a few seasons ago, they are super tight so Easterby isn’t going anywhere

Him with the running game of Shanahan's O....great TE, Debbo..add one more receiver....goodness it would be Patty M level.

Idk why you would want to take an elite playmaker and QB and put him into a ball control rush offense that by design limits the QBs effect on the game

If you want pat Mahommes level put him in a pat Mahommes offense

You don't think Shanahan would restructure his offense if he had a better QB?

Shannahan is notoriously confident about his ability as a play caller and his system. He thinks he can put anyone in there and be successful. I doubt he would change his offense much even with a guy like Watson and I don’t think that style of play highlights his strengths to a new level

He's under contract for 5 more years.

The Texans are going to tell him, very nicely, to get fricked.

Offloading his contract would be in both sides best interests.

O'Brien hobbled their ability to compete anytime soon. Might as well try to recoup some picks and commit to a full rebuild at this point.

How is it in Houston's best interest to trade Deshaun? Deshaun has the 18th highest cap hit for QB's next year (less than Taysom), is one of the top 8 QB's in the league, and is the only reason Houston was competitive in any games this year.

2021 will be rough, but they have plenty of cap space in 2022 to fill some gaps in the roster and will have their picks moving forward after this year. It's not perfect, but Houston went 2-8 in one possession games with the 30th best defense in the league this year. That's three possessions away from being 7-9.

It sucks to watch them waste another year of Deshaun, but it is in no way the Texans' best interest to move on from an elite QB.

Watson would absolutely crush it in Shanahan's offense. He needs his QBs to be mobile enough to execute rollouts and be able to go through progressions. Matt Ryan won an MVP playing in his offense. Watson could too.

The Superbowl was played in Houston in 2017 where the Failcons blew the 28-3 lead to the Patriots.
