Son has a soccer game and we are coming in from BR. Cuisine doesn’t really matter. I may be solo, so some options w a decent bar in which to dine would be nice.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Looking at Del Porto, Oxlot, & Lola
After Gallagher’s thread last week I will skip them. I am a sucker for red meat tho.

Theo's Neighborhood Pizza
I am not from the area but stopped at Theo’s on the way out of town for lunch & enjoyed it
The pizza was great & the meatballs on the sandwich were huge

Meribo - it's in downtown Covington. Has a nice large bar, casual but upscale feel, good draft beer choices, solid cocktails. Wednesday is happy hour all day.
Their burgers and pizza are really solid but if you want a entrée-sized meat, pasta, or fish dish that's there as well.
ETA: Lola has great food but their bar is small and I'm not sure if you can even sit at it during COVID time. Del Porto is ok but has bigger bar space. Never eaten at the bar @ Oxlot but it's a nice restaurant so not a bad option. I would say Meribo is the most family-friendly out of all of those places as well.

frick that place. food is overrated and owner is trash.
Oxlot is great, Lola is pretty good. I went to Tchefuncta's recently and expected it to be crap, but I was surprised by how good it was. They have a great bar area with a nice wine and whiskey menu. Food was very good as well. It was a bit on the pricey side, but I think you could get away without spending too much if that's a concern. Give it a look.

Why? What did I miss? Gallaghar's has always been a hit with us when we have gone.

Oxlot has a nice (although small) bar with great cocktails and food.
Meribo is also a good spot with brick oven pizzas.

I agree x 1,000 ... during the George Floyd summer riots, the owner supported the violence and went public with her liberal opinions ... "black people built this country and have every right to burn it to the ground”. Then she crawfished and went full Karen when people started calling her out and posting replies on her social media page.
I recommend Oxlot 9 or LOLA

Always good and the kids love the viewing window. Wouldn’t recommend it for a one person dinner though

I'm late to this but I throw my vote to Meribo as well. Phenomenal brick oven pizzas and the place is just an awesome atmosphere.
If any of you have ever heard of the Taco Jerks who used to hit the pop-up and food truck gatherings here on the Northshore area, the guy that ran it is working at Meribo now.

Thanks .... I went to Meribo, although they aren’t allowing bar service either. Was pretty disappointed but was already there and crunched for time.
I had the Pork Meatball app, which was really good but the meat/sauce wasn’t hot, served Luke warm. Didn’t send it back tho, dealt with it/
Ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich w Garlic Aioli (no bun) and Chips. It was pretty solid. I’ve been no/low carb for a year now so those were best options.
Even after the recs, I was hesitant to go there due to carb/pizza/etc, but Lola was closed and Ox seemed to be a little more of a hassle getting in and out when I had a game to attend. Did manage to find some things i could try at Meribo and they were good, considering.
Thanks for the recs

Theo’s pizza is legit. Heard about it in another thread here and have been there several times recently.

You can try Pyre Provisions next time. Good food. Casual atmosphere. Chef Jeff has a remarkable background.
