Pro athletes in general have never been as lazy, selfish, and all around soft as they are today.
I don't even think the problem is with athletes specifically. It's probably just a reflection of what's happened in society over the past 50 years.
So many of them really don't seem to care if they win or lose, because they get paid all the same. They don't care about their teammates or coaches, in fact they usually can't stand them.
I mean look at all the college athletes who opt out of their bowl games and stuff now. That phenomenon alone tells you everything you need to know about their commitment to their teams and teammates. Players in the past could have chose to sit out the games, but they didn't and they would have been torn apart by fans and the media if they tried to. Now it's just *shrug*
There are definitely still ones that actually work their arse off and are fierce competitors, like Kobe Bryant was known for being for example.
Maybe we idealize the past too much, but I don't think anybody can deny that in general pro athletes of the past were definitely far more gritty and selfless. I miss when pro sports weren't glamorous.

nflpa will be sending him a letter
talking heads on espn will make it about race, and people on msb, will claim to not watch espn, but while going to store to get groceries, they slipped and fell into the tv department at best buy, which had espn on, and they will recite what idiots on espn are pushing as news.

I feel for the guy, he’s one of the few all in 100% of the time guys who had taken less than market value because he loves the franchise and city he’s in, and has given back to it a thousand times over, but he’s stuck in a locker room with a bunch of soft entitled bitch asses.
You know he wants to be a Texan for life, but he also doesn’t want to waste his time and effort on a team full of guys who don’t give a shite. It’s one thing if you don’t have the talent (they didn’t his first 4-5 seasons), but the last few seasons it’s been a bunch of leeches (Deandre Hopkins was the biggest offender and apparently created entitled culture that is still there) who don’t give a damn about team success as long as the checks keep coming in.

Its worse than that. Fans and the Media actively encourage players to give up on their teammates and coaches in pursuit of self.
"You've proven enough, don't get hurt. Go make millions. The Rose Bowl means nothing."
I'm not going to run a dude down for sitting out a bowl, because I understand, but I will never celebrate that shite.

Well he said his piece.
it won't change anything no matter if you think he's a jagoff or not.
I think he can be super annoying but there is a lot of truth in what he said.
It doesn't matter though.
the media and politards have fricked us all.

His message rings true.
At the end of the day, fans drive all the money that comes into the league. Turn off the fans and it all goes away.
All sports leagues are in a delicate situation where fans have gotten out of the habit of going to the games.

The SJW nonsense has certainly had a negative impact on the game, but what will ultimately be the downfall is the entitled attitudes of the players. That’s true for all professional sports.
But at the end of the day, are they really two different things entirely or does one begat the other?

A fraud since day 1. His legacy will be the letterman jackets and first round playoff losses.

And people still shite on this man. Bunch of cynical assholes in this world, most of them right here on this board.

—Oh? How many NFL defensive player of the year awards did you win?
I didn’t think so.

His legacy will be a HOF bust and 3 DPOY awards. There are so many more hatable athletes yet some people want to hate on guys like him.

Athletes shouldn’t be put on pedestals and shouldn’t be held up as role models to kids, they’re flawed human beings like the rest of us who play a game & are well compensated for it. But the only thing that they do owe the fans is effort. Well said by JJ

They hate on him because they deep down identify with the losers Watt is calling out.
That's where we are in society right now. Everything good must be destroyed because it makes losers feel bad about themselves.

Friend,
His words highlight the absurdity of adults paying money and investing their time and emotions in grown men playing a game.

No reason to throw your teammates under the bus in public.
This is more like "You know who you are".
