-Shipping label created on 12/12, USPS "took possession" on 12/16
-Distance to destination: 500 miles
-Still in transit, haven't received a tracking update in 3 days, last update simply said "will arrive late"

Same.

Defund usps, and let fedex/ups pick up the load.

Amazon's delivery service has been great. Bezos really is going to take over the world.

I posted about this a few days ago. My package was shipped on 12/10. I still don’t have it. The originating location was Cincinnati.

Two days ago, a new shipping label was created and was now shown in Memphis. I’m not sure how that happened since the company I ordered from didn’t ship out a replacement item.

It’s like “magic” with USPS.

I know, who would have thought that several months of being publicly attacked & vilified & de-funded by the President could result in a weakened institution?

Went in to the post office to mail something the other day and all the workers were proudly displaying their union shirts. That’s the most likely candidate for why they are the way they are. No accountability, can’t get fired.

If it isn't a Amazon package it seems to be low on the totem pole and just sits there. We have 4 packages in various stages of USPS limbo. Or Christmas cards we ordered from Shutterfly have been in transit since there 5th.

The problem is you aren’t currently funding their needs.

Same. Mine shipped from Los Angeles on 12/10 and didn’t have any update til two days ago when it finally appeared in Grapevine, TX.

Now it says waiting on shipping partner or something like that.

I had to laugh. Told Ol baw not to count that money just yet.

Friend,

Agreed. I have nothing but deep respect for the USPS. Our mailman is like clockwork, arriving within 15 minutes of a certain time every day but Sunday. Like I said in another thread, I saw one USPS deliverer working the other day at 6:15 in the morning.

Several things are at play. First, the USPS is far too cheap. Currently first class postage is 50 cents for a letter. The same service at UPS or FedEx is 20 times that! 20 times! Second, due to Covid and the unexpected exponential growth of online shopping, the USPS has faced unprecedented volume. In part due to political games this summer, the USPS was not allowed to increase employment. Obviously, this was bad for morale, as workers have been overworked, underpaid, and working extremely long hours for months. It takes a toll.

I wish the covid stimulus bill gave a huge increase in budget for the USPS. This fine American institution, now beleaguered and even the butt of jokes and scorn, is in need of some polishing. It won’t happen without money, so I hope the USPS will double current shipping costs, putting consumer costs closer to the costs of public mail services seen in other countries.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Nope. I'm responding to the OP's complaint about how the USPS has been a complete disappointment this Christmas season.

It’s really crazy. I ordered something from Amazon and it arrived 7 days later...in Germany. No extra cost other than Prime membership

I mailed a Christmas card to my family in NOLA and it never arrived.

Crazy is I believe Amazon uses USPS for international shipping to military bases. Somehow Bezos can get them to work properly. Which is even more amazing.
