I live in Lafayette and Napier would be a very solid hire for whoever gets him. Very impressive young coach

The jobs he passed on grows by the day. Don't forget to add Mississippi state.

Napier has passed now on Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Auburn.

Napier wanted South Carolina - he would have taken it if offered.

They wanted Beamer more.

I don’t think there’s a certain job he’s holding out for, I think he knows what he wants as far as control and assistant pool and he’s going to hold out until he’s offered a gig where they agree to his terms.

I have no way of knowing. TBH I didn't know anything about Napier until a few weeks ago. But our dude (he's probably Auburn's most longtime and reliable insider across every board) claims he's extremely devoted to the Bama gig.

I'm in the same boat, seems bizarre and super-ambitious/unrealistic. But well before it came to a head at AU he was warning us that he thought we might not be able to get Napier regardless of terms we offered (for that reason) because he would only be a able to make one move of that magnitude.

I thought it was strange/interesting, but again, I imagine the LSU job will test that theory. Either way, whether he jumps at LSU or not, that type of dedication (waiting for very specific jobs) is pretty attractive.

Napier has no ties to LSU that I’m aware of. Why would he be waiting onLSU to open up?

I think Napier better land a Power 5 job and contract before his star burns out.

Do you actually think O would get fired for going 11-2/10-3 and being behind bama and aTm next year? Or is that part just a troll?

He loses to both bama and aTm next year, and Tigerland is gonna burn down. Chicken gonna have to purchase some more bandwidth.

I'm sure Bama will call Dabo, but he's already been at Clemson 18 seasons. His kids don't remember even living in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa. They're both on his team at Clemson. I don't see him ever leaving.

Napier's a well regarded young coach right now. Who's to say what tier he'll be in, say, 5 years or so? Plus it carries a lot of weight that Saban liked him enough to hire him twice.

I think as long as his success at ULL remains, his turn down approach actually makes him more attractive. Like Peterson at Boise.

Somebody from LSU Admin probably leaked it to him that Ed's on thin ice. Maybe he is holding out for us.

Outside of his current stint with ULL Napier has zero ties to the state of Louisiana. He may want the job if it comes open and he is still there but I don’t think he is going to turn down too many major programs for a maybe from LSU.

Because Napier is less than an hour away from BR. He's one of the hottest coaches in the country going on 2 seasons. And, if things stay pat I figure once Saban retires Kiffin, Sark, Cristobal, and possibly even Kirby Smart are likely to be the next head coach at Bama before Napier.

He not only hired him twice, he personally called Dr Maggard and told him he’d be crazy not to hire him.

It does smell that way a bit but also could be for Bama. I think he is the next good to great coach. Love to have him at Lsu

He's from TN. Could be waiting for TN job...That's more likely to open up sooner than LSU.

Jimbo nearly (should) have had aTm in the BCS, with Kellen Mond as his QB. He’s a much better coach than all the Cheerio’s make him out to be. MooState and the Black Bears will improve, their coaches have been successful elsewhere and will at least be troublesome going forward as they recruit for, and implement their systems. Unless we get home run hires (and past choices lend little hope), we might be lucky to finish third in the West.
