Curley Hallman beat Florida State and Alabama when he was at Southern Miss. One USL win at Iowa State does not mean Napier has proven he can beat Power 5 schools consistently.

I think it's between Bama and LSU. He would take destination to either but that's the 2 jobs he wants. I don't think he'll make it to Bama because I seriously think Dabo would leave Clemson for Bama. They would throw the bank and give him anything he wants to coach in Bama for a guy where that was his dream job. Napier I could see really wanting the LSU job just because he makes plenty sense to coach here. I think he'd be the first coach LSU called if they fired O tomorrow.
Napier would be a really good fit for LSU. I wouldn't hate that pick at all. I mean, we just signed a fricking failure like O who still somehow won a NC. Program speaks for itself. 3 NCs from 3 different head coaches since 2003 with 4 appearances. That's not a coincidence. Some programs are just setup for better success. LSU gets on their streaks every 4 years or so but they can't consistently put it together like Bama or the Ohio States.

Looking at the reverse—is the LSU job waiting on the HC at U-LA-LA?
Never thought I’d see that day.
Wouldn’t a top OC or DC at a Power 5 team be better than any G5 HC?

In your scenario, and especially assuming that Napier is still at UL at the time, I can totally see Napier taking the Clemson spot.

Of all the idiotic LSU fans posts you win the prize with that post of pure stupidity. Congrats.

I don't agree. The talent goes there because of Saban. When he leaves the playing field is level.
This. Bama was one more bad hire away from semi-permanent irrelevance.

After fifteen years I am so ready for an LSU head football coach who is not a cartoon character.

Napier has passed now on Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Auburn.
My guess is that Napier looked at those jobs and saw major problems with each. USC and Auburn are both the little brothers in their own state and don't have great HS football talent in either. Arkansas has the same talent issue along with Missouri. And who would actually want to live in Fayetteville or Columbia, Missouri if you aren't from there? Just my thought.

Nowhere near apples to apples, Curley came from the Danny Ford/RC Slocumb tree and had a hall a famer in Brett Favre at QB.
Napier is better groomed and took over a program Hudspeth has bottomed.
