What would it take to make NOLA great again?

Post-Covid, obviously.
Firstly, goes without saying that you have to get Destroya out. Vote for anything with a pulse opposing that woman.
Secondly, I guess you start by providing incentives for business to come back. Tax breaks maybe? Subsidized port infrastructure? Assurance that the corruption is being cleaned out?
Thirdly, take the tax income from the new businesses and invest that in a more robust police department in an effort to squash the rampant crime?
NOLA has the distinction of being perhaps the most culturally rich and unique city in the nation. Could it ever get back to what it was in the 60's and 70's?

That is all too much to ask of the machine politics in New Orleans, and the under-the-table stuff that is rampant in this state, not just the city.
Jim Letten was getting there, then his staff stabbed him in the back by posting privileged information in the comment boxes on nola.com. Jim Bernazani and Jim Letten were the best things ever to happen to New Orleans.

If we speak the truth about who and what the problem is and what needs to be done to make NOLA great again, we will get banned and called names.

Changing the name of Dixie beer should do it.

If we want tourists back, we need to get control of the French Quarter. Went to Galatoirs for dinner last week and the half block walk from Uber to the door was not safe. Very, very darkish.

It's actually very very very easy. Vote Conservative. That's it. That's all. Of course as always this city is full of morons so they'll continue to ignore that.
You get what you vote for.
You get what you vote for.

She's just a symptom, not the full problem. You can get her out, but as long as the people there keep electing incompetent and corrupt leaders (see the recently elected DA that's under indictment) it won't make much of a difference.

Right... and removing the Indian Maiden from the package of Butter was a huge benefit too...

Blow the levees and let nature take back everything. Only on the eastbank though. The westbank is a bastion of light for that shithole

Changing this moronic attitude would be a start.

There's absolutely nothing that can be done in the short term.
It will have to be an incremental thing over the course of 20ish years.
First of all, internally, segments of the population need to start worrying completely about education rather than other things. That will lead to a more educated and reasoned work force.
Second, need business minded leadership that will focus their entire energy on making New Orleans a business and tech friendly city.
Third, do the extremely hard work of transparently balancing the budget to a point where NOLA is solvent and actually provides services to its residents.
None of this will happen though, because step 1 won't happen.
Legalizing drugs and/or decriminalizing would actually go a long way to these goals.
